Job summary

OPTIMAS CAPITAL MANAGEMENT PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks a seasoned Long/Short Hedge Fund Analyst focused on Indian equity markets. You will source and evaluate opportunities, build investment theses, and support the CIO in strategy execution for a Pan-Asia fund with India at the core.

You will conduct fundamental research across Indian sectors, perform due diligence, and monitor portfolio exposures while ensuring regulatory compliance and disciplined risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
• Chartered Accountant or CFA holder is preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in equity research, portfolio management, or hedge fund investing with exposure to Indian markets.
• Strong understanding of Indian macroeconomic trends and listed equities.
• Experience with market neutral or absolute return strategies is a plus.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Long/Short Hedge Fund Analyst with deep expertise in the Indian equity markets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing investment opportunities, while monitoring risk and supporting the Chief Investment Officer in strategy execution for a Pan-Asia long/short equity fund, with a primary focus on India.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental research and analysis on Indian equities across sectors
• Perform in-depth due diligence on investment targets, including company management meetings, consultant interviews, and industry events in India
• Develop investment theses and prepare detailed reports for the CIO; assist in executing trades and managing position sizing
• Construct and monitor portfolio exposures in the India book, track P&L and attribute performance
• Identify and manage key risks to ensure capital preservation and minimize drawdowns
• Ensure full compliance with Indian regulatory frameworks and internal guidelines

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
• Chartered Accountant or CFA holder is preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in equity research, portfolio management, or hedge fund investing with significant exposure to Indian markets
• Strong understanding of Indian macroeconomic trends, sector dynamics, and listed equities
• Track record of investment performance and strong valuation skills
• Experience with market neutral or absolute return strategies is a plus
