Job summary

Coherent Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking an Intern in Business Intelligence to support the development, refinement and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and related reports. You will collaborate with the BI team and cross-functional stakeholders to understand reporting needs.

During the internship you will gain hands-on experience in data extraction, data cleansing, transformations, and data modelling, while learning MES reporting concepts and BI development standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a diploma/degree in a relevant field.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with BI concepts and data governance is a plus.
• Willingness to learn manufacturing systems and MES reporting concepts.

Responsibilities

• Support BI team in developing, enhancing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and operational reports.
• Assist in data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and validation from business systems, MES platforms, Excel files, SQL databases, and other data sources.
• Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into clear dashboard layouts, data models, and report specifications.
• Perform data quality checks to ensure reports are accurate, consistent, and aligned with business definitions and KPI requirements.
• Prepare documentation for report logic, data sources, refresh processes, user guides, and standard operating procedures.
• Assist in automating manual reporting activities and identifying opportunities to improve reporting efficiency.
• Collaborate with team members to monitor dashboard usage, collect feedback, and recommend continuous improvements.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Support the Business Intelligence team in developing, enhancing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and operational reports.
• Assist in data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and validation from business systems, MES platforms, Excel files, SQL databases, and other data sources.
• Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into clear dashboard layouts, data models, and report specifications.

Education

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related discipline.

Skills Required

• Basic knowledge of Power BI, Excel, SQL, or other data visualization and reporting tools.
• Ability to perform data preparation, data validation, and basic analysis using Excel, SQL, Python, or similar tools.
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Ability to understand business processes and translate user requirements into meaningful reports or dashboards.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Willingness to learn manufacturing systems, MES reporting concepts, data governance practices, and business intelligence development standards.

Other Requirements

• Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with engineers, analysts, and business users.
• Organized, proactive, and comfortable handling multiple reporting or data-related tasks.
• Interest in digital transformation, manufacturing analytics, and continuous improvement is preferred.
• Intern will be mentored by the Business Intelligence team and will support ongoing reporting, analytics, and process improvement activities.

Working Conditions: Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 6.30 pm; (100% on-site)
