Job summary

HAZOR INTERIOR is seeking an Interior Designer to develop practical, attractive and buildable design solutions that meet each client’s lifestyle, budget and project requirements. You will prepare space plans, furniture layouts, mood boards, material and colour selections, carpentry details, lighting concepts, 3D visualisations and technical drawings for clear contractor understanding.

During construction, monitor progress, coordinate works, verify measurements and provide clients with progress

Job description

The Interior Designer is responsible for developing practical, attractive and buildable design solutions that meet each client’s lifestyle, budget and project requirements. The role includes preparing space plans, furniture layouts, mood boards, material and colour selections, carpentry details, lighting concepts, 3D visualisations and technical drawings. All designs must be accurately developed so that contractors can understand and execute the proposed work.

The Interior Designer will prepare detailed quotations, scopes of work and material specifications, while obtaining and reviewing prices from contractors and suppliers. The designer must monitor project costs, recommend suitable alternatives when necessary and ensure that all additional works are supported by approved variation orders. Quotations should clearly identify quantities, dimensions, materials, exclusions, payment stages and warranty provisions to minimise misunderstandings and unexpected charges.

The role requires a sound working knowledge of Singapore renovation requirements, including HDB renovation guidelines and permits, condominium MCST procedures, approved working hours, site-access conditions and relevant BCA and fire-safety requirements. The designer must also recognise when regulated work requires an architect, Professional Engineer, Licensed Electrical Worker, Licensed Plumber or other qualified specialist, and coordinate their involvement accordingly.

During construction, the Interior Designer will develop and monitor the project schedule, brief contractors, verify site dimensions and coordinate demolition, masonry, plumbing, electrical, ceiling, carpentry, painting and installation works. Regular site inspections must be conducted to check progress, workmanship and compliance with approved drawings and specifications. The designer is expected to resolve site issues promptly, document decisions, manage design changes and provide clients with clear progress updates. Success in this role requires strong design judgement, technical understanding, cost awareness, organisation, communication and the ability to guide a renovation project from design development through construction and completion. The designer must maintain accurate records, coordinate timely approvals and foster professional relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and building management representatives.
