Summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented ICT Infrastructure Engineer to join the Prod Ops - Storage team, with a focus on storage and backup systems. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the planning, implementation, and ongoing operations of storage and backup infrastructure — from new storage deployments and migrations to day-to-day operational support — while actively contributing to automation and process improvement initiatives.
This is a hands‑on role suited for someone who thrives in a structured operational environment, takes ownership of their work, and is keen to make a tangible impact on the reliability, performance, and efficiency of enterprise storage and backup systems.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning, design, and implementation of storage and backup infrastructure projects, including new deployments, capacity expansions, storage migrations, infrastructure modernization, and re-platforming initiatives.
- Support storage and data migration projects, including lift‑and‑shift activities, onboarding of new platforms, and decommissioning of legacy storage systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and minimal disruption to business operations.
- Design, configure, and manage enterprise backup infrastructure, including backup policies, schedules, retention settings, and backup jobs across enterprise backup platforms.
- Perform and support backup restoration, disaster recovery, and recovery testing, ensuring recovery objectives are consistently met and data can be restored reliably within organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Support the migration and re‑platforming of backup workloads, including transitions from legacy backup solutions to modern platforms while maintaining data protection and service continuity.
- Ensure storage and backup implementations comply with security, compliance, and audit requirements, including developing security baselines, hardening configurations, test cases, and implementation documentation.
- Conduct and document functional, performance, security, and operational testing, ensuring test results are properly recorded and signed off prior to production implementation.
- Provide day-to-day operational support for storage and backup environments, including capacity and performance monitoring, incident resolution, troubleshooting, maintenance, and health checks.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation, scripting, and AI‑assisted tools, reducing manual effort and improving reliability and operational visibility.
- Work closely with server, network, database, application, security, and other infrastructure teams to deliver projects while maintaining operational stability and service continuity.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, knowledge bases, and project documentation to support knowledge sharing and continuity of operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in storage engineering, infrastructure operations, or a similar role.
- Hands‑on experience with enterprise storage platforms such as Hitachi, NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, HPE, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS/SMB, with experience supporting enterprise storage environments.
- Proven experience in storage migration, re‑platforming, data migration, or storage consolidation projects.
- Hands‑on experience with enterprise backup solutions such as Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Veeam, Dell EMC NetWorker, or equivalent, including backup policy management and recovery validation.
- Experience supporting backup migrations, disaster recovery, and restoration testing, with an understanding of RTO and RPO requirements.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages, with experience in infrastructure automation and operational improvement.
- Familiarity with security hardening, security baselines, test documentation, and infrastructure compliance/audit requirements.
- Experience with cloud storage and backup technologies, such as AWS S3, AWS Backup, or equivalent, is an advantage.
- Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, security, application, and operations teams.
- Experience with AI‑assisted tools for automation, scripting, log analysis, anomaly detection, or operational runbook development.
- Experience working in an ITIL‑aligned or structured IT operations environment.
