Job summary

NTU Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow to contribute to an interdisciplinary program focused on neural tissue engineering, in vivo spinal cord injury models, and regenerative biomaterials. The successful candidate will perform in vivo SCI experiments in rats, conduct microsurgery and functional assessments, and help generate mechanistic insights and manuscripts.

The role requires a Ph.D. and/or M.D.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. and/or M.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or a related discipline.
  • Experience handling rodents and conducting functional and behavioral assessments.
  • Expertise in animal surgery, preferably SCI microsurgery in rodents.
  • Hands-on experience with tract tracing, tissue sectioning, immunofluorescence, histology and confocal microscopy.
  • Experience with western blotting and qRT-PCR is advantageous.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for research work.
  • Highly motivated, well-organized, and capable of independent work and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct in vivo experiments using rat SCI models.
  • Conduct microsurgical procedures, cell/scaffold implantation and behavioral evaluations.
  • Carry out analyses to understand mechanisms of action such as tract tracing and imaging.
  • Data analysis, interpretation, and manuscript preparation for publication.
  • Supervise and train junior researchers and contribute to laboratory management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary collaborations within and beyond NTU.
