UL LLC is seeking a Principal Engineer - Physical AI to lead AI assurance for physical products and cyber-physical systems. The role drives standards, certification, and evaluation methodologies, with a global, hybrid work model requiring 3 days onsite and remote options for non-local candidates.

The candidate will develop customer-facing offerings, advise regulators and standards bodies, and build scalable delivery capabilities across UL Solutions' AI portfolio.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, AI, CS, or related field.
• 15+ years in robotics, autonomous systems, embedded/cyber-physical systems, product safety or related engineering domains.
• 5+ years with AI-enabled physical systems, robotics, autonomy or ML-enabled products.
• Hands-on experience with AI-enabled physical systems in real-world settings.
• Knowledge of Physical AI tech, failure modes, risks, and evaluation methodologies.
• Familiarity with robotics, safety, cybersecurity, and AI governance standards.

• Develop standards, certification, verification programs and test requirements for AI-enabled physical products.
• Define methods to evaluate real-world system behavior, including use, perception, and safety considerations.
• Create customer-facing offerings like readiness assessments, robotics evaluations, training, and certification paths.
• Serve as technical advisor to customers, regulators, standards bodies, and industry forums.
• Build global delivery capability via evaluator competency frameworks, training, and procedures.
