Job summary

Kerry Consulting client seeks an experienced Head of Legal APAC to lead the regional legal function from Singapore, overseeing cross-border matters across multiple jurisdictions. You will advise senior leadership on strategic issues including M&A, JVs, contracts, regulatory compliance and governance.

• LLB or LLM and admitted in at least one APAC jurisdiction.
• Minimum 20 years' PQE across an international law firm and in-house multinational environment.
• Substantial experience leading geographically dispersed legal teams and multi-jurisdictional matters.
• Significant cross-border transactional experience across APAC (M&A, joint ventures and commercial contracts).
• Experience advising C-suite and managing complex litigation, regulatory or government enforcement matters.

Our client is a global organisation with a significant presence across APAC. The business operates across multiple markets and is focused on delivering solutions for sustainable consumer and industrial products. We are seeking an experienced senior legal leader to join the Singapore office as Head of Legal APAC.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the APAC legal function and overseeing business unit and country counsel across multiple jurisdictions and assuming responsibility for the regional legal function. You will advise senior regional leadership on strategic and complex legal matters spanning commercial contracts, M&A and joint ventures, regulatory compliance, litigation, corporate governance and government investigations. You will also lead and develop the regional legal team, manage external counsel and budgets, oversee legal risk and governance frameworks, and drive legal operations, digitalisation and process improvements across APAC.

Requirements

You should hold an LLB or LLM and be admitted to practise in at least one APAC jurisdiction, with a minimum of 20 years' PQE gained across an international law firm and an in-house multinational environment ideally with an organization in the consumer goods or food ingredient business. You will have substantial experience leading geographically dispersed legal teams and multi-jurisdictional matters, together with significant cross-border transactional experience across APAC, including M&A, joint ventures and commercial contracts.

Experience advising C-suite and executive-level stakeholders and managing complex litigation, regulatory or government enforcement matters is required. Strong commercial and financial acumen, leadership, negotiation, drafting and stakeholder management skills are essential.
