BW controls a fleet of over 400 vessels transporting oil, gas and dry commodities. In the infrastructure space, the group operates in wind, batteries, water, subsea cable networks and data centres.

About BW Group

What drives us is our mission to deliver energy for the world today, and to find solutions for tomorrow. If you want to make lives better around the world by providing access to energy, while working on sustainability and decarbonisation, we'd like to hear from you. Working at BW you will feel the pulse of the world each day. If something happens in the world, we feel it, and you can play your part by anticipating and responding to it. Our high-performing teams are drawn to BW by the global nature of our work and the satisfaction of working with collaborative people who inspire each other to deliver exceptional results.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Role Overview

Based in Singapore and reporting to the Chief People Officer, BW Group, the Head of Communications & Brand leads communications and corporate brand activities across BW Group whilst also supporting BW LNG.

This is a highly visible role partnering closely with the Chairman, senior executives and Communications leaders across our affiliate companies to strengthen BW's reputation, shape its corporate narrative and foster greater collaboration across the Group.

Success requires far more than exceptional communications capability. You will be a commercially minded strategic thinker who anticipates issues, shapes narratives and influences outcomes through sound judgement, trusted relationships and collaboration in a federated organisation where credibility matters more than hierarchy.

Working with a lean team and external partners, you will combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, helping shape executive communications, protect and enhance the BW brand, support organisational transformation and drive communications excellence across the Group.

Key Accountabilities
Corporate Communications
  • Develop and deliver BW Group's corporate communications strategy aligned with the Group's long-term vision and priorities.
  • Shape compelling narratives that strengthen understanding of BW's purpose, strategy and portfolio of businesses.
  • Advise leaders on communications strategy, executive messaging and stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead communications for strategic initiatives, organisational change, major announcements and corporate events.
  • Oversee BW Group's digital communications, including LinkedIn and other channels, delivering engaging content that strengthens the brand and supports strategic objectives.
Executive Communications
  • Partner closely with the Chairman and senior executives on speeches, presentations, thought leadership and executive communications.
  • Develop executive communications that reflect BW's values and high editorial standards.
  • Lead the production of flagship Group communications, including World Horizon, the Annual Report, Sustainability Report, corporate website and key leadership updates.
  • Support senior executives at conferences, media engagements, investor events and industry forums through end-to-end communications planning and delivery.
  • Serve as a trusted communications adviser to the Chairman and senior leadership, providing sound judgement on messaging, stakeholder considerations and reputational matters.
Employee Communications
  • Lead Group-wide employee communications across digital channels.
  • Deliver engaging communications that connect shore-based and seafaring employees through platforms such as BW Connect.
  • Foster a culture of openness, pride and engagement across the Group.
Brand & Reputation
  • Act as steward of the BW corporate brand, ensuring consistency whilst respecting the autonomy of our affiliate businesses.
  • Evolve BW's corporate identity and positioning to strengthen the Group's reputation and create value across the portfolio.
  • Protect and enhance BW's reputation with employees, customers, investors, regulators, partners and the wider maritime and energy community.
  • Lead crisis and issues communications, partnering with senior management and external advisers as required for ongoing incidents and with post-communications.
BW LNG Communications & Marketing
  • Partner with the BW LNG leadership team to develop communications and marketing initiatives that strengthen the company's commercial positioning and reputation.
  • Lead communications supporting commercial initiatives, including vessel launches, technology innovations, customer campaigns and industry events.
  • Develop marketing content and digital campaigns that showcase BW LNG's capabilities, innovation and market leadership.
  • Ensure alignment between BW LNG's communications and the wider BW corporate brand.
Leadership & Influence
  • Lead BW's Communications Community of Practice, fostering collaboration, sharing best practice and identifying opportunities for greater alignment across affiliate companies.
  • Build trusted relationships with affiliate CEOs and Communications leaders, influencing through credibility rather than authority.
  • Foster collaboration across the Group whilst respecting the entrepreneurial culture and autonomy of individual businesses.
Digital Communications & AI
  • Harness AI and emerging technologies to improve the quality, consistency, efficiency and reach of communications.
  • Identify and implement new tools, channels and approaches that enhance engagement and communications effectiveness.
  • Measure communications impact using meaningful qualitative and quantitative insights.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, coach and develop a small, high-performing communications team.
  • Manage external agencies and specialist partners to maximise quality, capability and value.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience

We're looking for someone who combines strategic communications leadership with exceptional judgement and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. You'll ideally bring:

  • Significant experience leading corporate communications within a global organisation or consultancy.
  • Experience advising CEOs and senior executives on communications strategy and reputation management.
  • Strong understanding of corporate branding, stakeholder engagement and executive communications.
  • Experience leading communications during periods of organisational change, transformation or significant corporate activity.
  • Experience working across complex, matrixed or federated organisations would be advantageous.
  • Experience within the maritime or energy sectors would be beneficial, although not essential.
What Will Make You Successful

You’ll be someone who naturally earns trust and credibility. You’ll demonstrate:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent judgement and discretion.
  • The ability to simplify complex issues into clear, compelling messages.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • High levels of curiosity and strategic thinking.
  • Comfort working directly with senior executives and Board-level stakeholders.
  • A collaborative style with low ego and high integrity.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and deliver.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement in knowing when to follow established processes and when a pragmatic, flexible approach will deliver a better outcome.
  • A passion for continuous improvement, innovation and practical application of AI.

This role is unlikely to suit someone who prefers highly structured environments, relies on formal authority to get things done, or wants to specialise in a single area of communications. Success requires sound judgement, adaptability, collaboration and a willingness to operate across a broad range of strategic and hands-on responsibilities.

OTHER INFORMATION
Why BW?

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the voice and reputation of one of the world's most respected maritime and energy groups.

You’ll work closely with visionary leaders who value integrity, long-term thinking and collaboration, while helping tell the story of a business investing in both today's energy needs and tomorrow's energy transition.

The role offers exceptional breadth, combining strategy, executive partnership, brand leadership, organisational change, employee engagement and external communications in an entrepreneurial international environment.
