Job summary

Job Summary

We are seeking a Head Coach to lead our swimming programme from Learn-to-Swim to Competitive Squads. This hands-on leadership role involves coaching senior squads, mentoring coaches, and driving a culture of excellence, safety, and enjoyment in swimming.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and oversee a structured swimming pathway ensuring clear progression from beginner to competitive levels
• Coach senior and competitive squads by planning training programmes, race strategies, and periodisation for meets
• Lead and mentor coaching staff by providing training, feedback, and performance reviews to enhance team capabilities
• Establish and enforce coaching standards, safety protocols, and best practices across all programme levels
• Identify and support swimmers' progression into competitive squads through targeted development plans
• Organise and manage swim meet participation, including entries, race planning, and on-deck coaching support
• Monitor swimmer performance using data and feedback to refine coaching methods and improve outcomes
• Build strong relationships with swimmers and parents by communicating progress, expectations, and programme updates
• Collaborate with management to drive programme growth, class structure, and scheduling improvements
• Ensure compliance with pool safety standards, child safeguarding policies, and swimming association regulations
• Represent the club at swimming association events, competitions, and coaching networks

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years relevant teaching experience (advantageous)
• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education or equivalent
• Ability to conduct programmes for babies, preschool, Learn to Swim, Competitive, and Adult swimmers
• Fluency in English
• Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
• Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards swimming
• Excellent communication skills with both children and adults
• Ability to inspire confidence and motivate swimmers
• Perseverance and patience in coaching and mentoring
• Understanding of differentiated teaching methods in swim sessions
• Professionalism, punctuality, and strong organizational skills for managing swimming classes and training
