Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Private Limited in Singapore seeks a Biochemistry Department Supervisor to oversee staff, ensure quality, and coordinate activities in a high-standard lab.

Qualifications

Degree in Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of medical clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise and co-ordinate the Biochemistry department staff to maintain high standards.
Oversee specimen reception, preparation and packing of specimens as needed.
Assist Laboratory Manager on technical matters in Biochemistry.
Liaise with Laboratory Manager on validation and verification of test results for critical reporting.
Enforce workflow processes to comply with MOH, ISO15189 and CAP requirements.
Draft and finalize SOPs related to ISO 15189 or CAP requirements and monitor workflows.
Maintain equipment maintenance timely and ensure accurate results reporting.
Verify and report results timely; investigate anomalies and perform daily QC checks.
Ensure proper documentation for traceability and adherence to safety rules.
Mentor Medical Technologists and ensure adherence to protocols and quality controls.
Highlight issues to management and adjust staffing to meet workload.

To supervise and co-ordinate the activities of the Biochemistry department staff, ensuring that the highest standards of work are maintained.
Supervise specimen reception, preparation and packing of specimens by laboratory staff as needed.
To assist the Laboratory Manager on all technical matters and activities related to the Biochemistry department.
To liaise with the Laboratory Manager on validation and verification of all test results as required for critical reporting.
To enforce workflow processes to be in full compliance to regulatory and MOH guidelines and ISO15189 and CAP requirements.
To draft, fine-tune and finalize the SOP related to ISO 15189 or CAP requirements and to monitor workflow activities in line with SOPs and review, amend or revise the SOPs if the need arises.
Ensure appropriate maintenance of all testing equipment are carried out in a timely manner
Responsible to verify and report accurate results in timely fashion; investigates and reports any anomalies.
Responsible to perform daily quality control check and troubleshoot as required.
Ensure proper documentations and records for traceability (e.g. acknowledgement on QC and maintenance checklist after completion).
Ensure efficient and effective departmental operations, including department quality control and compliance adherence.
To take responsibility for finishing, checking, validating and authorizing subordinates’ work as necessary. Authorized to release results and to liaise with doctors and customers on test results queries, if needed.
Highlight issues or improvements to management promptly on laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; identifying peak and slack periods; making operational or staffing adjustments.
Supervise and train Medical Technologists as part of their technology know-how.
To ensure that the team works to all established protocols in the satisfactory completion and validation of routine analyses, informing and updating staff of developments and changes in practice.
To ensure that internal and external quality control procedures and proficiency testings are carried out and regularly reviewed, and that appropriate corrective measures are taken to maintain approved standards in a timely manner.
To ensure that staff adhere to all laboratory safety procedures like wearing protective PPEs while on duty and observing all safety work rules & regulations in the Biochemistry department.
To monitor the use of consumables and reagents, anticipating needed supplies and ensure testings are not delayed due to reagent shortage.
Any other duties as and when assigned by the management.
