Marina Bay Sands is a premier hospitality destination in Singapore seeking an experienced bartender to deliver exceptional food and beverage service at our busy bar, mastering menu items, glassware, garnishes, and responsible service.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in bartending, fluent English, the ability to lead by example, strong attention to detail, and the stamina to work on a 24-hour rotating shift, including weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

  • Secondary education preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years in bartending.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide food & beverage service to guests according to bar specifications and exceed expectations.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, brands, wines, glassware and garnishes.
  • Keep stock and manage bars across all areas; attend line-ups and review day’s business.
  • Collaborate with Captains and Service Attendants to ensure quality service.
  • Perform closing duties and maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide food & beverage service to guests according to bar specifications and exceed their expectations.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of:
    1. All menu items available in the bar.
    2. All liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections available in the bar.
    3. Every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
    4. Designated glassware and garnishes for drinks.
    5. Out of stock items.
    6. Bar layout, table set-ups & operating hours.
    7. Daily arrival / departure, VIPs.
    8. Be aware of in-house group activities, locations and times.
    9. Correct maintenance and use of equipment.
    10. All department policies / service procedures.
  • Keep stock of inventory and manage bars in all areas.
  • Attend line-ups with other staff and review all information pertinent to the day’s business.
  • Meet with Captains, or Manager to review daily operations and out of stock items. Ensure that other members of the staff are aware of such changes.
  • Communicate closely with Captains and Service Attendants to ensure quality service is achieved.
  • Assist other bartenders and service attendants whenever possible.
  • Perform work and side duties in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Maintain storage areas with proper supplies, organization, and cleanliness. Rectify any cleanliness/organization deficiencies as requested by superiors.
  • Replenish par levels for supplies and equipment. Complete requisitions to replenish shortages or additional items needed for the anticipated business.
  • Upsell to guests whenever possible.
  • Transport linens to bar whenever required.
  • Prepare special items for events in accordance with superior’s requests.
  • Prepare workstations & pantries, ensuring compliance to departmental standards.
  • Ensure that all materials, equipment are in complete readiness for service in accordance to business needs.
  • Participate and contribute in all designated meetings and training sessions.
  • Daily check and cleaning of work areas ensuring compliance with standards of cleanliness and order. Report any defects to Manager on Duty.
  • Report guest opportunities to Superiors following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction. Advise of the problem and if unable to solve the problem, ask for superior’s assistance.
  • Be aware of guests’ reactions and communicate with superior and other service staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure all assigned closing duties are completed before signing out.
  • Provide feedback of any problems to the Superior.
  • Report to Manager on Duty work orders for maintenance and repairs.
  • Review status of assignments and any follow-up actions with Manager on Duty.
  • Ensure that guests are screened for safety and individuals of disrepute are not allowed entry.
  • Monitor the preparation of duty assignments, ensuring compliance to departmental standards.
  • Recognize illegal and undesirable behaviour and take appropriate steps to deny entry and have removed from the premises.
  • Build Trust and Teamwork.
  • Constantly monitor staff performance in all phases of service and job functions, ensuring that all procedures are carried out to departmental standards, rectify ant deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and employee morale.
  • Attention to detail, works well under pressure, great communication skills, a good disposition, works well in a team environment.
  • Promote venue on all personal social media platforms in a positive view on a weekly basis.
Job Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Secondary education preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in bartending experience.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English
  • Ability to lead by example with honesty and integrity
  • Ability to analyze and improve process and procedures
  • Ability to interact and solve opportunities with employees and guests
  • Have a good eye for detail, speed and accuracy
  • Prioritize and organize, work with minimal supervision
  • Able to lift up to 10KG without assistance; Able to carry a tray weighing up to 10KG
  • Able to work on a 24 hour rotating shift, weekends & public holiday
  • Able to work standing up to 8 hours
