Job summary

InternSG seeks a hands-on Mechanical Engineering Intern to transform published designs into working bench builds. You will source parts, read BOMs, and assemble hardware, while developing practical skills on real hardware projects.

You will model parts in SolidWorks, 3D-print components, and assemble electromechanical systems, with mentorship from practicing engineers and exposure to end-to-end product development in a deep-tech setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Hands-on maker mindset; portfolio in maker/DIY/robotics/FYP is a plus.
• Able to read technical documentation and open-source repositories (GitHub, forums, wikis).
• Experience with SolidWorks and 3D printing.
• Basic electronics/wiring/microcontroller knowledge is a bonus.
• Self-driven and resourceful; not afraid to troubleshoot when a build doesn’t work first time.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate open-source machine projects for potential use.
• Recreate machines from open-source docs; source parts and build hardware.
• 3D-model and modify parts in CAD; 3D-print or fabricate components.
• Assemble mechanical and electromechanical systems: frames, stages, motors, drivers, wiring.
• Bring up and test builds; troubleshoot issues and document results.
• Keep clear build notes and documentation for reproducibility.
