Job summary

NTU Singapore, in collaboration with Alibaba, invites applications for a Research Scientist in the Alibaba-NTU Global e-Sustainability CorpLab (ANGEL) Green AI team. You will pursue efficient and sustainable AI research, focusing on foundation models that are high-performing yet environmentally responsible.

You will work with interdisciplinary researchers to develop novel algorithms, publish in top venues, and translate innovations into real-world sustainability solutions.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, ML, NLP, Information Retrieval, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong research background in Large Language Models (LLMs), Green AI and efficient machine learning, LLM-based Agents, Distributed AI systems and scalable model serving.
• Strong publication records in reputable journals/conferences.
• Strong programming skills in Python and modern AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face).
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in Green AI, with a focus on improving the efficiency, scalability, and sustainability of large AI models.
• Design and develop novel algorithms for efficient training, inference, retrieval, and deployment of large language models (LLMs) and multimodal foundation models.
• Develop AI technologies that contribute to sustainability applications.
• Publish research findings in leading AI conferences and journals.
• Collaborate with internal and external research partners to deliver innovative Green AI solutions.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to research proposal development and strategic initiatives.
