Job summary

Singapore Taekwondo Federation seeks a Skills Coach - Grappling to design and deliver a progressive grappling curriculum for athletes from youth to elite level at the Singapore Combat Sports Centre (SCSC). You will lead technical development, tactical preparation, and injury-free training, aligning with national medal targets and multi-NSA coordination.

Qualifications

• Background in Sport Science, International Coaching, or a related discipline (preferred).
• Recognised coaching certification in Combat Sport (Grappling related).
• Current First Aid & CPR/AED certification.
• Safeguarding certification in line with national sport governance requirements.
• Proven track record of athlete development across multiple stages (development → national → elite).
• Experience operating within a structured sports organisation, academy, or national training centre environment.

Responsibilities

• Technical Grappling Development: Design and deliver structured grappling programmes covering takedowns, clinch control, groundwork transitions, escapes and defensive mechanics.
• Tactical & Competition Preparation: Conduct situational sparring and tactical drills aligned with competition formats; analyse opponent styles; support cornering at competitions and camps.
• Athlete Pathway Development: Contribute to long-term athlete development framework; identify talent and progression from grassroots to national level; align with strength & conditioning and sport science support.
• Performance Analysis: Utilise video analysis to improve technique and tactical awareness; track athlete progression with measurable benchmarks; provide feedback reports to Head Coaches and Performance Director.
• Collaboration Across NSAs: Work with NSA Head Coaches to integrate grappling within sport-specific systems; support cross-training within SCSC; contribute to a unified Combat Sports Technical Framework.
• Professional Standards & Safety: Ensure safe training protocols; uphold safeguarding and athlete welfare; maintain discipline and high-performance culture.
