Job summary

TikTok is seeking a backend engineer in Singapore to join the Messaging team and own server-side development for features like Streak, Stickers, Voice & Video Call, and cross-datacenter synchronization to ensure a reliable messaging experience.

You will work on performance, scalability, and privacy, and explore next-generation messaging powered by LLM and AI Agents to elevate user engagement across regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.
• Strong logical analysis and system abstraction abilities.
• Proficient with AI coding tools; interest in AI skills/agents preferred.
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, OS; know at least one language (Java/Go/C++/Python).

Responsibilities

• Backend development and iteration of TikTok Messaging in the Singapore team; build and evolve server-side capabilities for Streak, Stickers, Voice & Video Call, and other core messaging features.
• Build and maintain server-side IM infrastructure (IMCloud) and ensure privacy and data compliance across regions.
• Explore AI-powered messaging experiences (LLM, AI agents) to enhance user engagement.
• Improve performance, stability, and scalability of the Messaging system under high concurrency.
