Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking an experienced Chartering professional to execute time and voyage charter agreements for Capesize assets on a global basis, with a strong emphasis on decarbonization and new fuel technologies. You will manage charter-in/charter-out activities, vetting, market analysis, and project leadership to drive profitability and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any relevant discipline preferred.
• Over 5 years in dry bulk/mining shipping, capsize chartering preferred.
• Proven experience launching decarbonization projects.
• Proficient in negotiating voyage and time charter contracts.
• Strong finance and accounting understanding for chartering and new business development.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and execute time charter-out and voyage charter agreements, including COAs, on long-term, medium-term, and spot basis.
• Manage time charter-in activities (spot/term) with shipowners as required.
• Prepare and implement practical arrangements to meet customer and industry vetting standards.
• Conduct regular market research to analyse freight/time charter rate trends and market dynamics.
• Prepare detailed reports for management on Capesize market outlook and forecasts.
• Assess and manage charterers’ creditworthiness to mitigate financial risk.
• Plan and manage vessel voyage schedules to optimise fleet utilisation.
• Lead commercial projects to enhance profitability and launch new decarbonisation initiatives.
• Execute Freight Forward Agreement deals to manage risk and profitability.
• Identify and research new business opportunities, especially decarbonisation-related, and formulate business plans.
• Lead commercial efforts in developing vessels focused on decarbonization (LNG, Ammonia, Methanol, biofuels).
• Support financial structuring and package development for new ventures as needed.
