Job summary

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Manager, Global Merchandise Sourcing in our Singapore office. You will lead apparel sourcing strategies, manage factory relationships, negotiate costs, and drive 3D/virtual sampling to shorten development cycles.

You will collaborate with Design, Merchandising, and US Sourcing teams to align with Disney quality and cost goals. Ideal candidates have 8–10 years in global sourcing or merchandising, strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric, and 3D tools,

Qualifications

8 to 10 years’ experience in Global Sourcing and/or Merchandising
Strong knowledge of product-specific construction standards, materials, and manufacturing processes/techniques
Experience in merchandise sourcing and production management
Experience with fabric sourcing and garment development
Exposure to 3D product creation tools preferred
Strong apparel construction, fit, and fabric knowledge
Understanding of textile performance and testing
Experience with 3D garment tools such as CLO, Browzwear
Solid costing, negotiation, and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to balance conflicting priorities between creative design and cost of goods objectives
Proficient in English and Mandarin or native dialects to interact with stakeholders across Asia markets
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and strategy-formulation skills
Ability to influence internal stakeholders and drive efficient decision-making
Understanding of macro-economic pressures and variables that influence global sourcing decisions
Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, MicroCharts)

Responsibilities

Inspires and motivates peer and direct reports
Facilitates short and long-term sourcing strategies for managed categories
Travel internationally/domestically to build factory and supplier relationships
Assists in leveraging opportunities and trains sourcing strategies
Drives product to meet Disney quality standards and elevate supplier performance
Partner with US-based Sourcing team to drive market exploration
Transform data into information with QA for corrective action
Manages development process, supporting on-time delivery and profitability
Drives product development management and key milestones in sample approvals
Drives proactive production tracking and troubleshooting delays
Negotiates costing and proposes value engineering options
Seeks new ideas, techniques, and materials to drive product innovation
Collaborates with factory and Product Design on trends
Develops and maintains socially compliant supply base meeting standards
