Responsibilities

• Review geological reports, maps, borehole logs, soil investigations and geotechnical data before piling works commence.
• Conduct site inspections to assess conditions and identify geological features that may affect pile installation.
• Supervise geological investigations including borehole drilling, sampling and rock coring where required.
• Identify soil and rock layers and record types encountered during drilling.
• Determine rockhead level and compare with ground investigation data.
• Monitor drilling progress and geological conditions during bored piling and other foundation works.
• Inspect rock socket conditions and record rock quality, fractures and socket length.
• Monitor groundwater conditions including strikes, seepage and water-bearing layers.
• Identify geological hazards such as cavities, boulders and fractured zones.
• Verify actual ground conditions against borehole logs and design assumptions.
• Maintain geological records including borehole logs and geological profiles.
• Report unexpected conditions to geotechnical engineer and site management.
• Recommend further investigations when ground information is insufficient.
• Coordinate with project team including geotechnical engineers, structural engineers and quality control.
• Prepare final geological documentation for project handover.
