Job summary

Apple is seeking an Engineering Manager for the LUMINCE AI Text Generation team in Singapore. You will lead a small, agile ML engineering team and spend about 60% of your time coding, designing systems, and refining models.

You will also set the technical direction and drive end-to-end delivery across production features for multiple languages and regions. You will partner with researchers and engineers globally, ensuring high-quality implementations while balancing exploration with shipping.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering and/or machine learning.
• 2+ years directly managing engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• Track record shipping ML-powered systems to production at scale.
• Hands-on skills in production-quality programming (Python/Go/Scala/Java) and ML lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a small, agile team of ML engineers; hire and develop careers.
• Spend ~60% of time hands-on: design systems, write code, tune and evaluate models.
• Set the technical vision and roadmap for Text Generation capabilities with product and research partners.
• Own end-to-end delivery from problem to production deployment and operation.
• Set engineering/ML quality bar: reviews, evaluation methodology, metrics, launch readiness.
• Make prioritization calls balancing exploration and shipping, short-term vs long-term needs.
• Partner with engineers, researchers, and analysts across regions to ensure quality and performance.
• Impact Generative AI to enrich Apple Services across billions of devices and dozens of languages.
• Serve customers in dozens of languages.
