Job summary

Apple Media Products in Singapore seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the Text Generation team of the LUMINCE AI group. The role is hands-on about 60% of the time, building systems, writing production code, and refining models, while guiding technical direction and team growth.

You will partner with product, research, and cross-functional teams across regions to ship scalable Generative AI capabilities for Apple Services in dozens of languages.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience in software engineering and/or machine learning, including 2+ years directly managing engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Track record of leading teams that shipped ML-powered systems to production at scale.
• Strong hands-on skills: production-quality programming in one or more of Python, Go, Scala, or Java, big data pipelines, and the full ML lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a small, agile team of machine learning engineers: hire great people, develop their careers, and build a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and trust.
• Spend about 60% of your time hands-on: design systems, write production-quality code, and build, fine-tune, and evaluate models using the latest Generative AI techniques.
• Set the technical vision and roadmap for the team's Text Generation capabilities, together with product, research, and cross-functional partners.
• Own delivery end to end in fast, agile iterations, from turning an ambiguous problem into a clear plan, through design and development, to successful deployment and operation of features, data, and models in production.
