Job summary

Apple is seeking a Senior ML Engineer to help shape Gen AI solutions across markets. You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists and researchers to develop multi-turn, agentic LLM-based features, optimize retrieval, and deploy scalable workflows in production.

The role emphasizes model fine-tuning, grounding strategies, and staying current with LLM advances, while ensuring collaboration with product teams to deliver customer-centric AI experiences across markets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in ML, backend engineering, data engineering.
• 1-2 years in training or evaluating LLMs.
• Foundational knowledge of RAG and vector retrieval.
• Experience with Rust and Python for orchestration.
• Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Experience with data preprocessing and tokenization.
• Proficiency with transformers and datasets libraries.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Experience with multi-modal LLMs for voice is a plus.
• Experience deploying to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, on-prem or hybrid).
• Experience training LLMs in Chinese for Greater China
• Fluency in written and spoken Chinese for Greater China

Responsibilities

• Contribute to model development and fine-tuning workflows for generative AI features.
• Design and evaluate retrieval strategies for grounding large models in product-relevant data.
• Prototype and benchmark multi-round agentic solutions for conversational knowledge-intensive tasks.
• Partner with data and platform engineers to ensure scalable deployment and monitoring.
• Stay current with advancements in large language modeling, vector search, RAG, and LLM Agents.
• Participate in architecture discussions with engineers and partner teams.
• Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to incorporate customer experience requirements into AI solutions.
• Support localization and rollout of AI features across multiple markets.
