Job summary

SD Legal is seeking a Senior Regulatory Counsel to join our client’s Asia-focused team in Singapore. Reporting to the Global GC based in the US, you will lead a team of legal and compliance professionals and oversee significant regulatory advisory work in a technology platform environment.

The role blends regulation, commercial and corporate responsibilities, focusing on product distribution and platform protection.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of PQE with a common law background.
• Experience in regulatory advisory and Asia-focused regulation.
• Commercial and corporate experience complementary to regulation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a legal/compliance team and manage external counsel.
• Provide regulatory advisory to product distribution and platform protection.

Job Description

• The role is a mix of regulation, commercial and corporate work - with a key focus on regulatory advisory.
• The role will focus on product distribution and regulatory support to ensure the business can mix commercial growth with platform protection.
• Key stakeholder internally include product teams, deal teams, C-Suite and both in Asia and around the world.
• External stakeholders include regulatory bodies, government officials / lobbyists.
• You will manage a team of highly qualified legal and compliance professionals, as well as external counsel / consultancies.

Requirements

• 15+ years PQE, common law background
• Tier 1 education / academics and law firm training
• Technology background and regulation focused
• Regulatory advisory role and across Asia
• Commercial and corporate experience, although secondary to regulation
• International experience can be education, working overseas, MNC environment
