Description du poste

Full-Time Chinese Language Teacher & Curriculum Developer

Ancourage Academy | Bishan and Woodlands
Teaching specialisations: Preschool Chinese, Primary Chinese, Secondary Chinese, Higher Chinese and relevant JC courses
Monthly salary: S$[minimum]–S$[maximum], depending on relevant experience, subject expertise and teaching capability
Intended commencement: January 2027

Help students become more confident using Chinese

At Ancourage Academy, we are looking for educators who can make Chinese accessible, meaningful and engaging for students with different language backgrounds.

You will teach small classes of up to six students, provide focused feedback and create resources that help students make steady progress. Alongside teaching, you will have opportunities to develop practical AI skills and broader capabilities in communication, digital content, workshop planning and curriculum development.

We welcome teachers with expertise in particular age groups or courses. Your assignment will match the levels and language skills you can teach effectively.

Teaching scope

We welcome expertise in one or more of the following:

  • Preschool Chinese language enrichment and foundational oral language.

  • Primary Chinese.

  • Higher Chinese at the relevant levels.

  • Secondary Chinese.

  • Relevant JC Chinese courses, according to your subject and curriculum experience.

The role may involve listening, speaking, reading and writing in different combinations depending on the students’ ages and course requirements.

Applicants may specialise in a particular age group or course. We value strong teaching capability within a clear specialisation.

What you will do
  • Plan and deliver regular, trial and replacement lessons within your agreed scope.

  • Build students’ confidence in speaking and participating in Chinese.

  • Teach vocabulary and language structures through clear explanations and meaningful examples.

  • Develop reading comprehension, writing and oral communication according to the relevant level.

  • Use age-appropriate stories, conversations, texts and activities to make learning engaging.

  • Identify language gaps and provide targeted practice and encouragement.

  • Mark work carefully and give feedback students can understand and use.

  • Create and improve worksheets, reading resources, composition activities, oral practice and assessment materials.

  • Check language accuracy, natural phrasing, appropriate difficulty and syllabus relevance.

  • Track progress and communicate learning goals and practical next steps to parents.

  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and agreed development projects.

Build practical skills with advanced AI

You will receive company-funded access to selected advanced AI tools, including frontier models approved for the academy’s work, with guidance on using them effectively.

Applications may include:

  • Drafting ideas for oral activities, discussion prompts and contextualised vocabulary practice.

  • Exploring different explanations for language structures.

  • Preparing initial versions of reading activities and differentiated practice.

  • Developing presentations and digital resources for language learning.

  • Organising teaching materials and improving recurring workflows.

  • Planning a language workshop or parent learning session.

You will learn how to assess AI-generated Chinese for accuracy, natural expression, appropriate vocabulary and suitability for the intended learners. All materials will require teacher review before classroom use.

Training will also cover effective prompting, checking outputs and handling student information appropriately. Prior AI or coding experience is helpful but is not required.

Develop skills beyond language teaching

Your development can include wider communication, content and programme skills.

Possible areas include:

  • Writing and editing clear content for different audiences.

  • Storytelling, presentation design and public speaking.

  • Creating digital learning resources and short educational explanations.

  • Planning and facilitating workshops.

  • Using simple spreadsheets to organise progress information.

  • Coordinating a resource-development project.

  • Supporting colleagues through resource sharing and constructive feedback.

For example, you could develop a sequence of oral activities for students who are hesitant to speak, create a themed reading resource or plan a parent workshop on supporting Chinese language practice at home.

These projects will be agreed according to your interests, capability and the academy’s needs, with assigned work included within your working hours.

Long-term career development

You will receive onboarding to teaching approaches, curriculum standards and working tools, with opportunities to learn through feedback and collaboration.

Potential career directions include:

  • Senior Chinese Teacher: deepen your expertise in a particular age group or course.

  • Chinese Subject Lead: contribute to teaching standards, resource quality and subject planning.

  • Curriculum Lead: take greater responsibility for learning progression, assessments and programme development.

  • Language Programme or Digital Learning Project Lead: coordinate an agreed workshop, resource series or learning initiative.

  • Team or Centre Leadership: develop responsibilities in people support, planning and programme delivery where suitable opportunities arise.

Progression will depend on teaching quality, subject expertise, contribution and available responsibilities. We welcome teachers who want to build sustained relationships with students and grow professionally over time.

What we are looking for
  • Strong spoken and written Mandarin proficiency, as required to teach Chinese and assess students’ language accurately.

  • Sound knowledge of at least one relevant age group, course or teaching level.

  • The ability to explain language clearly and adapt to students with different levels of confidence.

  • Patience, encouragement and practical approaches to building participation.

  • Careful preparation and attention to language quality.

  • An interest in developing curriculum and trying useful teaching tools.

  • Professional communication with students, parents and colleagues.

  • Willingness to learn from feedback and contribute to shared resources.

Relevant teaching experience is welcome. Strong newer educators and career changers who can demonstrate language proficiency and teaching potential are also encouraged to apply.

Preference will be given to candidates who can confidently teach Chinese across multiple year levels and/or additional relevant subjects. The ability to teach both Chinese and Higher Chinese is also advantageous where applicable. Strong Chinese specialists are welcome, with assignments matched to demonstrated language proficiency and curriculum expertise.
