Job summary

Fynder Talent is helping a fintech client hire a Senior Backend Developer to own core services end-to-end, not just ship features inside someone else’s system. You’ll design, build, and assume accountability for reliability, performance, and maintainability.

Expect to drive architectural decisions for your squad, ship to production continuously with quick PR reviews, and mentor mid-level engineers while participating in design reviews.

We're hiring a Senior Backend Developer to own core services end to end, not just ship features within someone else's system.

What you'll own

• Design, build, and own backend services — you're accountable for their reliability, performance, and maintainability, not just the code you commit
• Make architectural decisions in your domain and drive technical direction for your squad without needing to be told what to build
• Ship to production continuously — we review PRs same-day and value velocity over process
• Raise the bar around you: mentor mid-level engineers, run design reviews, and push back on bad technical calls with evidence and alternatives
• Own your services in production, including on-call for your area

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of backend engineering, with a track record of owning a service or system end to end (not only features within one built by others)
• Strong Python (or a comparable backend language you can point to in production)
• Solid AWS and distributed-systems fundamentals — you've designed for scale and can talk through the trade-offs you made
• You've made architectural decisions the team actually adopted, and you can explain why
• Clear communicator — you can articulate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
• Preferred industry background: fintech, B2B infrastructure, payments, prediction markets or another high-reliability, data-intensive domain. If you've worked where speed and precision genuinely matter, that's what we're after.

Nice to have

• Experience in a consumer or B2B product company at meaningful scale
• AI-native workflow — you use AI tools in your day-to-day and have shipped or experimented with AI-powered features
• Exposure to event-driven architectures, high-throughput data pipelines, or financial-grade systems
