Job summary

COFCO International is seeking a Freight Trading Assistant in Singapore to support the commercial shipping function. You will work with freight traders, operators, and cross‑functional teams on chartering activities, vessel operations, market analysis, and post‑fixture processes.

This role suits a recent graduate or a candidate with up to 2–3 years of relevant experience seeking a career in freight trading and dry bulk shipping. Strong English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Business, Economics or related field.
• 0–3 years experience in shipping, chartering, operations, or trading (internships acceptable).
• Interest in global trade, freight markets, and commodity flows.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; VBA knowledge a plus.
• Familiarity with AIS or freight platforms is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support chartering strategies and day‑to‑day vessel operations.
• Monitor vessel positions using AIS and internal systems.
• Assist in fixture recap, nominations, and post‑fixture work.
• Analyze freight market data and report trends.
• Prepare voyage estimates, P&L, and freight exposure reports.
• Coordinate with shipowners, brokers, and port service providers.
• Contribute to data accuracy and process improvements.
