UWCSEA East invites applications for a Freelance Music Instructor to deliver lessons for Grades 3–6 and support our ensemble activities from October 2026. The role involves working with the Head of Primary Music and the Activities Manager on East Campus.

You will plan and deliver individual and group lessons, collaborate with staff, contribute to student performances, and uphold health and safety requirements while inspiring young changemakers in a purpose-driven school.

Qualifications

  • Preferable music qualification or an equivalent
  • Experience delivering music lessons in a school or similar setting
  • Well-organised and able to work with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual and paired music lessons to students of all abilities and ages.
  • Plan and prepare lessons in relation to student needs and examination syllabuses.
  • Collaborate with Head of Primary School Music, parents, and Activities Department on student progress.
  • Think creatively to provide innovative lessons that are engaging, fun, and challenging.
  • Work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and the UWCSEA team.
  • Support student performances and recitals throughout the year.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements for working as a musician

UWCSEA East seeks qualified candidates for the position of Freelance Music Instructor - Ruan [IEC] from October 2026.

This candidate will work with the Head of Primary Music and Activities Manager on East Campus. The position will be involved with delivering lessons for Grades 3-6 and supporting our ensemble activities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Strong ability in delivering individual and paired lessons to students of all abilities and ages.
  • Provide highest teaching standards -planning and preparing lessons in relation to individual students’ needs and examination syllabuses.
  • Liaising with Head of Primary School Music, parents, and Activities Department members regarding student progress and attainment.
  • To think creatively to provide innovative lessons that are engaging, fun, and challenging.
  • To work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and other UWCSEA team members.
  • Supporting student performances and recitals throughout the year.
  • A good understanding of the health and safety requirements of working as a musician.
Person Specifications
  • Preferable music qualification or an equivalent
  • Preferable minimum of 3-5 years experience
  • Experience in delivering music lessons to students in a school or similar environment
  • Well-organised and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with other staff members in the college
  • To demonstrate a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of students and members of the UWCSEA community.
