Job summary

Hytech in Singapore seeks an experienced FP&A Manager to partner with our Product and R&D organisation. You will drive financial planning, headcount and resource planning, investment decisions, and cost optimisation across the organisation, working closely with Product, Engineering and Technology leaders.

This is a highly business-facing role requiring hands-on experience supporting Product, Engineering or R&D teams within a technology-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of FP&A or related experience.
• Proven experience directly supporting Product, Engineering, R&D or Technology teams.
• Experience in a technology-led environment such as internet, fintech, SaaS, AI, digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own the annual budget, rolling forecasts and long-range financial planning for the Product and R&D organisation.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leaders on headcount planning, workforce costs, hiring plans and resource allocation.
• Provide financial oversight of R&D costs including headcount, contractors, cloud, software and vendors.
• Evaluate product and technology investments including business cases, ROI and scenario modelling.
• Translate roadmaps and plans into clear financial forecasts and investment plans.
• Track performance against budget, identify variances and risks, and drive corrective actions.
• Develop metrics on R&D investment, cost efficiency and productivity.
• Build scenario models for headcount growth and major technology initiatives.
• Provide clear insights to senior management on investments and spend optimization.
• Continuously improve FP&A processes and forecasting accuracy.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced FP&A Manager to partner with our Product and R&D organisation. This role will work closely with Product, Engineering and Technology leaders to drive financial planning, headcount and resource planning, investment decisions, and cost optimisation across the organisation.

This is a highly business-facing role. Beyond budgeting and forecasting, you will be expected to understand how Product and Engineering teams operate, where resources are being deployed, and whether investments are delivering the intended business value.

Hands-on experience supporting Product, Engineering or R&D teams within a technology-driven organisation is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the annual budget, rolling forecasts and long-range financial planning for the Product and R&D organisation.
• Partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders on headcount planning, workforce costs, hiring plans and resource allocation.
• Provide financial oversight of key R&D cost areas, including headcount, contractors, cloud and infrastructure, software, data, technology vendors and other engineering-related spend.
• Partner with business leaders to evaluate product and technology investments, including business cases, ROI analysis, scenario modelling and resource requirements.
• Translate product roadmaps, engineering priorities and organisational plans into clear financial forecasts and investment plans.
• Track actual performance against budget and forecast, identify key variances and risks, and work with stakeholders to drive corrective actions.
• Develop financial and operational metrics that provide greater visibility into R&D investment, cost efficiency, resource utilisation and overall productivity.
• Build scenario models to support decisions around headcount growth, organisational changes, infrastructure investment and major technology initiatives.
• Provide clear, actionable insights to senior management on where the organisation is investing, how efficiently resources are being deployed, and where opportunities exist to optimise spend.
• Continuously improve FP&A processes, financial models, management reporting and forecasting accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in FP&A, Business Finance or Finance Business Partnering.
• Proven experience directly supporting Product, Engineering, R&D or Technology teams is required.
• Experience in a technology-led environment such as internet, fintech, SaaS, AI, digital platforms or financial technology is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the economics of a technology organisation, including R&D headcount, engineering investment, cloud and infrastructure costs, software spend and technology vendors.
• Strong financial modelling skills with hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and scenario planning.
• Commercially minded and comfortable challenging assumptions, investment requests and resource allocation decisions.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn complex financial and operational data into practical business insights.
• Comfortable partnering with senior Product and Engineering stakeholders and influencing decisions without relying solely on formal authority.
• High level of ownership, sound judgement and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
• Fluency in both English and Chinese is required to support regional and Chinese-speaking stakeholders.

This is not a traditional Corporate FP&A or reporting-focused position. We are specifically looking for someone who has worked inside or alongside a Product & R&D organisation and understands how technology teams plan, invest and operate.
