Hyphen Partners is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer who will be embedded with enterprise customers, translating complex operational problems into AI-driven solutions. You will own the lifecycle from discovery to production, ensuring reliable deployments and measurable outcomes.
This hands-on IC role requires strong software and systems design, plus comfort working with sales, product, and delivery teams to drive decisions in real-world environments.
We're hiring for a Forward Deployed Engineer for a category leading AI company that deploys agents and automates extremely complex workflows inside large enterprise customers. This is a hands-on IC role. You'll be embedded directly with customers, working alongside a client-facing deployment partner, translating messy real-world operational problems into working AI systems, and staying accountable for the outcome long after the first deployment ships.
You’ll partner with customer teams to understand what's actually breaking in their workflows, design and build agents that plug into their existing systems, and own the full lifecycle — from first conversation through production reliability, performance, and iteration. The client relationship is shared; the engineering ownership is entirely yours.
We're specifically looking for people with technical founder or founding-engineer energy — candidates who've built something from scratch, joined an early-stage startup as one of the first engineers, or otherwise show a track record of creating clarity in ambiguous, fast-moving environments without waiting to be told what to do. We're less interested in people who've sat comfortably in one large, stable organization for many years; we want engineers who are still visibly hungry and growing.
5+ years in a technical problem-solving role with strong software and systems design fundamentals. You should be comfortable scoping ambiguous problems alongside sales, product, or delivery teams, and genuinely enjoy sitting in the room with a customer and driving toward a decision rather than waiting for a polished brief. Experience working across multiple systems, integrations, and data flows is essential, along with real curiosity about making AI agents work reliably in production — not just in a demo.
prior experience in a forward-deployed, solutions engineering, or other customer-facing technical role; exposure to AI agents, automation, or conversational systems; experience owning production systems post-launch.
