Job summary
Wilhelmsen Ship Management is seeking a Vessel Manager to take end‑to‑end technical ownership of a fleet of bulk carriers based in Singapore. You will lead technical performance, safety, and cost control; oversee maintenance, repairs, and docking projects; work with shipboard teams, owners, and class societies; and drive incident prevention and continuous improvement. Experience as Chief Engineer or Vessel Manager, plus knowledge of maritime regulations and BASSnet, is highly valued.
Qualifications
Sailing experience as a Chief Engineer on bulk carriers, or shore-based experience as a Vessel Manager handling bulk carriers of various sizes.
Strong understanding of maritime regulations and compliance (ISM, ISO, etc.)
Good command of written and spoken English
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A collaborative and solutions-oriented approach
Familiarity with systems like BASSnet is an advantage
Responsibilities
Lead the technical management and performance of your assigned vessels
Ensure safe, compliant, and cost-efficient operations at all times
Oversee maintenance, repairs, and docking projects
Work closely with shipboard teams, supporting and guiding them when needed
Manage budgets, procurement approvals, and technical decisions
Drive incident prevention, investigation, and continuous improvement
Build strong relationships with owners, class, and key stakeholders
