Job summary

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA) preferred.
  • 10–15 years of finance experience, including senior leadership roles.
  • Experience in SME manufacturing or project-based construction businesses preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, risk management, and regulatory compliance in Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Proven experience leading and developing finance teams across locations.
  • Hands-on experience in cost control, project and factory financial management, and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the finance teams in Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Provide clear financial guidance to support business decision-making.
  • Track profitability, costs, and overall performance.
  • Collaborate with operations and project teams to optimize results.
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards for performance monitoring.
  • Act as main finance contact with the parent company and present results.
  • Strengthen and maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with Singapore and Malaysia regulations.
  • Prepare annual budgets and regular forecasts; monitor costs and margins.
  • Manage cash flow, receivables, payables, and inventory levels.
  • Oversee project and factory financial performance, including costing and budgeting.
  • Lead audits and address audit findings; drive process improvements.
  • Standardize processes between Singapore and Malaysia; drive systems enhancements.

About our client: Our client is a Singapore-based interior fit-out and bespoke built-in furniture solutions company specialising in the manufacturing and installation of custom-built wardrobes, kitchens, vanities, and interior carpentry systems.

About the role:

We are looking for a hands-on and practical Financial Controller to lead the finance function across Singapore and Malaysia, reporting directly to the CEO. The role focuses on strong financial control, governance, cost management, and ensuring alignment with the reporting and compliance requirements of our listed parent company.

The Financial Controller will be a key business partner to the CEO, driving financial discipline, transparency, and sustainable profitability. This is an operationally focused role with significant governance responsibilities, ideal for a finance leader who is comfortable working hands-on in an SME environment while managing group-level reporting requirements.

1. Financial Leadership & Support
  • Lead and develop the finance teams in Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Provide clear financial guidance to support business decision-making.
  • Track profitability, costs, and overall performance.
  • Collaborate with operations and project teams to optimize results.
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards for performance monitoring.
2. Group Finance Communication & Representation
  • Act as the main finance contact with the listed parent company.
  • Present financial results, key changes, and business drivers clearly.
  • Explain business context behind the numbers.
  • Handle sensitive topics such as provisions, losses, project margins, and risks.
3. Governance, Risk & Internal Controls
  • Strengthen and maintain internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with Singapore and Malaysia regulations.
  • Manage operational and financial risks effectively.
  • Ensure proper delegation of authority and approval processes.
  • Lead audits and promptly address audit findings.
4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control
  • Prepare annual budgets and regular forecasts as requested by the parent company.
  • Monitor factory costs, project margins, and overheads.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without impacting operations.
  • Ensure departmental spending aligns with financial goals.
5. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
  • Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient funds for obligations.
  • Track receivables, payables, and inventory levels.
  • Manage banking relationships and loan facilities.
  • Optimize working capital for smooth operations.
6. Project & Factory Financial Oversight
  • Oversee financial performance of construction projects.
  • Track contract claims, billing, certifications, and collections.
  • Ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
  • Manage factory inventory, production costing, and capital expenditures.
7. Team Leadership & Process Improvement
  • Lead and mentor finance teams across locations.
  • Standardize processes between Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Enhance systems, reporting efficiency, and financial controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement in finance operations.
About you:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
