Job description

A day in the life of a Financial Analyst at VF looks a little like this. As the dedicated Product Cost Finance Partner, you will support a high-growth, footwear-led brand with an expanding apparel business. Working across Brand Finance, Product Supply, Planning, Merchandising, Product Development and Sourcing, you will turn product cost, duty and tariff data into clear actions that improve margin outcomes. You will own seasonal cost visibility from target setting through production, quantify and validate savings before and after capitalization, and provide decision support throughout the go-to-market process. This role reports to the Director, Product Supply Finance.

Let’s break down that day in the life a bit more.

  • Target FOB setting: Partner with Altra Brand Finance and Product Supply to establish benchmark-informed target FOB (product cost) assumptions by product category, primarily footwear and increasingly apparel, and connect those assumptions to seasonal financial plans.
  • GTM decision support: Provide cost, margin and sourcing insights at key go-to-market milestones, including seasonal reviews, by explaining FOB movements, BOM (material) and non-BOM drivers, gaps to target and the actions required to close those gaps.
  • Savings pipeline: Build and maintain a quantified savings pipeline by season and initiative, including yield improvements, SMV (Standard Minute Value) reduction, material consolidation, sourcing allocation, vendor consolidation, surcharge reduction, packaging optimization and duty optimization.
  • Savings tracking: Track approved savings through production and distinguish value identified before capitalization from value realized after capitalization. Reconcile target, FSR (Final Seasonal Review), production purchase order and standard-cost outcomes, then translate unit-cost and volume changes into inventory, COGS, gross margin and sales-equivalent impact.
  • Monthly Actualization: Monitor the actualization of Product Supply savings each month and clearly report value identified, validated, embedded in production, capitalized in inventory and recognized in the P&L, including timing differences and risks to delivery.
  • Tariff & duty exposure: Assess tariff and duty exposure using current sourcing and production allocation. Quantify gross exposure, mitigation actions and residual net risk, and partner with Product Supply and Brand Finance on sourcing, cost-engineering and commercial response options.
  • FOB governance: Govern FOB from cost sheet to production purchase orders, including base FOB changes, surcharges, discounts, material liabilities and any increase after FSR margin sign-off.
  • Incremental opportunities: Use data and comparative analysis to identify incremental opportunities beyond the committed savings target, prioritize the highest-value actions and support stakeholders in converting opportunities into measurable results.
  • Scalable methods: Help establish repeatable costing methods, data standards, controls and documentation that can scale across the wider Product Supply Finance organization while remaining responsive to Altra’s growth agenda.

What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you'll need to succeed and excel. While formal education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain or a related field is valuable, we are most interested in approximately 3-5 years of relevant experience and evidence that you can convert complex cost data into practical business decisions.

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • Hands-on financial analysis or FP&A experience, ideally involving product cost, gross margin, sourcing, supply chain or inventory.
  • Strong analytical capability, with confidence working across large style-, SKU-, purchase order-, or factory-level datasets and reconciling results across multiple cost baselines.
  • Ability to quantify and validate savings across time, separating pipeline, validated, production-embedded, capitalized and P&L-recognized value.
  • Understanding of the relationship between FOB (product cost), duties, tariffs, surcharges, standard cost, inventory capitalization, COGS and gross margin.
  • Commercial curiosity and the confidence to challenge assumptions, identify cost opportunities and explain financial trade-offs to both finance and non-finance partners.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to turn detailed analysis into concise recommendations, decisions and accountable actions.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with disciplined attention to data quality, controls and documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple seasonal milestones and monthly deliverables in a fast-growing brand environment while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.
  • Ability to develop and utilize AI tools.
  • Location requirement: This is a full-time role based in the Singapore Product Supply Office.

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.

  • Experience in footwear costing, product development, sourcing or supply chain finance; exposure to apparel costing is an advantage.
  • Experience with tariffs, duties, country-of-origin analysis, standard cost, purchase price variance or inventory capitalization.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools, enterprise planning systems or product-costing platforms.
  • Experience supporting a high-growth consumer brand and working across regional or global stakeholder groups.
