Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. is looking for an Accounting/Finance Director to lead operations, ensure compliance, and provide financial analysis. The role involves engaging with key clients and managing external relationships to enhance efficiency and capability.
The ideal candidate should have a degree in Finance or Accounting, a professional qualification, and at least 8 years of relevant experience in ship management or a similar field.
Additionally, strong skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and maritime knowledge are crucial for success in this position.
Directs and ensures that all operations of the Accounting/ Finance Department fully comply with company’s procedures and legislation. Provides thorough analysis on financial results, operational costs and new investments and ensures that the prescribed standards are achieved and maintained, thus contributing and supporting the company’s strategic decision making.
Participates in the development of the SMC and BSM Corporate’s short and long term strategic objectives and goals by providing analytical reports concerning the SMCs operational results, so as to enhance the alignment of the SMC’s operations with BSM’s goals.
Keeps abreast of national and international economic conditions and monitors developments and trends in order to act as an advisor to top management procedures and financial standards, as well as proposing improvements that will increase the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the company's operations.
Participates in meetings with key local clients in order to provide all necessary financial information and costing on our services, while contributing to the development of contracts, ensuring that their terms and conditions protect the interests of the Company and are in compliance with the company’s financial processes and standards.
Ensures that all clients receive the financial statements, accounting reports and services’ invoices for their vessels according to the respective management contracts and handles the resolution of non-routine inquiries that may arise.
Handles external relationships with business associates financial institutions and local authorities regarding financial matters.
Liaises with external auditors and maintains relationships with them, in order to ease the provision of all required information and contribute towards the accurate execution of audits. Monitors and follows up on the results of the audits, so as to protect company’s interests.
Develops the budget of the SMC as well as its periodical revisions and upon approval reviews its accurate implementation, as well as develops analytical management reporting, identifies potential discrepancies, provides reasoning of findings and proposes solutions that will increase the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the SMC.
Provides financial support and guidance of the country’s VAS, CSC and/or MTC units, in order to increase their compliance with BSM policies and procedures and enhance their effective and efficient operation.
Ensures the timely and accurate provision of the consolidated, separate and ad-hoc reporting of financial results to Shareholders, SMC and group management, in order to increase their awareness on the SMCs financial performance.
Reviews monthly technical variance reports and cash position statements for vessels under SMC’s management and supervises the prompt settlement of all accounts related to the SMC and/or to the SMC managed vessels, ensuring the smooth and unhindered operation of the company and the vessels.
Coordinates, coaches and motivates his subordinates, through the appropriate training, development, management of performance and salary progression to ensure that staff have the appropriate knowledge, skills and support that will help them perform effectively and contribute to the achievement of the department’s desired short and long-term objectives.
Ensures the most efficient cash management of the SMC, in order to meet and support the effective operation of all departments. Oversees and approves the electronic purchasing orders raised by the Fleet Department and the LPSQ Department, in compliance with BSM policies and procedures.
Ensures the efficient and effective operation of the SMCs accounting department and implements all required improvements, in order to comply with local rules and legislation and meet the standards of BSM.
Co-ordinate with GSC and make sure all accountings activities outsourced to GSC are timely and accurately performed.
Reviews and improves the procedures and guidelines for the financial/accounting operation, in order to ensure smooth workflow in compliance with international and local financial and accounting standards and regulations and in accordance with BSM Policies.
Coordinates and supervises all taxation aspects of the SMC and liaises with local tax authorities so as to ensure the accurate and timely incorporation of all relevant activities. Ensures the accurate and timely provision of all the required tax returns and financial statements to local authorities (e.g. tax authorities, social security body, and municipality), in order to secure the compliance of the SMC with the local legislation.
