Job summary

STATION SATCOM PTE. LTD. seeks skilled personnel to install, service and maintain connectivity and satellite systems across vessels. You will manage IT network hardware, CCTV, and onboard IT infrastructure, ensuring compliant and timely completion of tasks.

Ideal candidates hold IT/telecommunications qualifications with CCNA or related certs, and experience in marine IT environments. Willingness to travel and work varying schedules is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in IT & telecommunications.
• CCNA or similar network certs are a plus.
• Strong IT knowledge: servers, networks, admin.
• Experience on vessels/marine IT is advantageous.
• Solid TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, DHCP knowledge.
• Firewall, router, and switch config & maintenance.
• General hardware/software computer knowledge.
• Basic network troubleshooting (LAN) and cabling.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and fault finding.
• Physically fit for maritime work; lifting, height, confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and maintain Connectivity/Satellite Systems (Starlink, VSAT, FBB, Iridium) and IT network hardware.
• Complete vessel network setup including network formation and segmentation per customer needs.
• Assist coordination team with work orders and vessel schedules; liaise with vessel agents.
• Create detailed documentation from installations, services, and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure timely completion of tasks within the agreed scope.
• Work in the field with appropriate tools and approved spares.
• Coordinate with Support and Project Management to solve technical issues.
• Test and repair SATCOM equipment; configure IT equipment (servers, firewall, WAP, switches) in warehouse when idle.
• Provide remote support for vessel connectivity and IT issues when not at sea.
• Adhere to safety regs and maintain PPE.

Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. 1. Responsible for the work and activities related to installation, service, and maintenance of all Connectivity/Satellite Systems (Starlink, VSAT, FBB, Iridium and etc), IT Network Hardware/software installation, Firewall configuration, Installation and Maintenance of CCTV in ship.


2. 2. Complete network setup in vessel which includes network formation, identification and segregation of vessel network as per customer requirement.


3. 3. Assist coordination team with work orders and vessel schedules, including liaising with vessel agents prior to attendance.


4. 4. Creating detailed documentation from installations, services, and maintenances for tasks assigned.


5. 5. Responsible for completion of tasks on time with respect to agreed scope of work.


6. 6. Work individually in field with the correct tools and approved spares as required.


7. 7. Cooperate with internal departments to solve technical and operational issues, coordinate closely with Support and project management team.


8. 8. Testing and repairing of Satcom equipment's, Configuration of IT equipment's (i.e Computers, Servers, Firewall, WAP and Switches) in warehouse as per client's requirement when there is no vessel attendance.


9. 9. Provide remote support to solve vessel connectivity and IT related issues when there is no vessel attendance.


10. 10. Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain required PPE in workplace.

Educational and skills

1. 1. Education in IT & Telecommunications (Diploma, bachelor's degree or similar)


2. 2. CCNA and other network related courses is an advantage.


3. 3. IT Knowledge is a must, minimum understanding on computer server, configuration, network infrastructure and administration.


4. 4. Experience in the vessel IT, marine electronics and communication equipment's installations on yachts, commercial vessels, or any offshore installation is an advantage.


5. 5. Strong understanding of concepts and protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, VPN and DHCP


6. 6. Good Knowledge of Firewall, Router and Switches configuration and maintenance.


7. 7. Working knowledge of computer hardware and software.


8. 8. Ability to conduct basic network troubleshooting (in particular; LAN's), including knowledge of standard network cabling.


9. 9. Demonstrated technical knowledge and strong troubleshooting skills.


10. 10. Physically fit to work in maritime environments. Must be able to lift heavy equipment, work in height and climb into confined antenna spaces.


11. 11. Support and communicate with customers in a professional manner.


12. 12. Team player with ability to work independently in solving tasks.


13. 13. Actively seek and share knowledge within the organization.


14. 14. Flexible to perform other tasks outside the scope of main role.
