Job Summary
The Facilities UPW/WWTP Engineer provides engineering support responsible for planning, ensuring accurate operations and maintenance of the Ultra‑Pure Water (UPW) and Wastewater (WW) systems. The role involves fixing and responding to issue interruptions as well as managing engineering projects such as upgrades, retrofits and expansions.
Responsibilities
- Manage upgrade, engineering and maintenance of all UPW plants, industrial wastewater plant, fluoride waste treatment plants, water/wastewater reclaim systems (e.g., Local Scrubber Reclaim LSR, Local Scrubber Reclaim Reject Recycling LSRRR) and related base‑build installations.
- Lead and manage targets, objectives and tasks toward achieving sustainability goals for water and waste.
- Drive continual improvement programs targeting quality and reliability of systems to ensure maximum uptime and minimal impact to production. Train and lead the team to identify root causes and implement corrective/ preventive actions.
- Ensure timely response to out‑of‑spec conditions or system interruptions that impact production, and follow up with improvement plans.
- Continuously benchmark Micron and industry best practices in developing a world‑class UPW/WW team.
- Establish area budgets, manage costs associated with maintenance/project activities, and lead cost‑reduction programs for service contracts.
- Establish and regularly measure current and past performance metrics for improvements and decision‑making.
- Manage various administrative and engineering databases used for job tracking, engineering data, capital equipment facilitation and critical system loads.
- Lead and manage all aspects of EHS for the section, ensuring compliance to regulations and promoting safety priorities.
- Collaborate with other sections, departments and corporate groups to support common goals and projects.
- Lead the team by providing comprehensive solutions that consider wider implications and link related elements.
- Set and communicate goals, motivate the team, oversee employee development, develop performance plans for all direct employees and conduct performance evaluations.
- Provide constructive feedback, effective coaching and impart knowledge and expertise to others.
- Ensure completion of required learning items and reports within stipulated time.
- Provide supervisory support for startup of new equipment, ensuring proper interface with related systems (M&E, Chem/Gas, etc.).
- Make decisions with minimal guidance, considering risk, uncertainty and upside gains.
- Ensure leaders conduct routine (weekly) MBWA ensuring all facilities disciplines are met.
- Align tasks and goals of the section to align with Fab10 strategies and objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomolecular Engineering or Environmental Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), Microsoft Office and Copilot.
- At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in operation and maintenance of water treatment systems such as UPW, WWT, Reclaim and DIW.
- Effective communicator, able to collaborate across all levels.
- Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
- Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership and a track record of impact.
- Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred.
