Job summary

IEG OILFIELD SERVICES PTE. LTD. is seeking a hands-on engineer to design mechanical components and oversee fabrication processes. The role involves interpreting GA drawings, preparing parts such as bolts and bushings, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the fabrication shop.

You will assess cutting plans, identify potential fabrication setbacks, and apply welding procedures while ensuring quality and corrosion protection of finished parts.

Qualifications

• Experience reading drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and welding information.
• Knowledge of fabrication processes: cutting, fitting, welding, machining, assembly.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and approved designs to streamline production.
• Prepare components such as bolts, nuts, and bushings for fabrication.
• Understand cut plans for raw steel using saws, lasers, or plasma cutting tools.
• Identify potential setbacks from fitting and welding and propose solutions.
• Understand welding procedures and parameters involved in production.
• Ensure completed components undergo quality tests and protective coatings.

Job description

Job Scope:

Design and Engineering Aspect

• To be able to come up with mechanical approveddesign that smoothen the work process
• Prepare all components that relates to thedesign, eg. Bolt and Nuts / Bushing

Fabrication Aspect

• Understand and able to visualise the cut plan for raw steel materials to be sliced to exact dimensions using saws, lasers, orplasma cutting tools.
• Understand manual and automated tools and equipment for drilling and cutting
• Able to identify possible set back like distortion due to fitting and welding
• Pick up the technique to prevent fitting and welding set backs
• Understand the welding procedures and parameters involved
• Able to understand how cut pieces are form fit together
• Have the understanding of completed components undergo rigorous quality testing and receive protective coatings to prevent rust.

Quality Aspect

• Able to identify required inspection as per procedure
• Understand what is NDT procedures

Key Qualities:

• Technical Understanding: Drawings, dimensions, tolerances,welding symbols, materials, specifications and fabrication requirements.
• Drawings: Can interpret GA drawings, fabrication/shop drawings, details, BOMs and welding information accurately.
• Problem Solving: Can identify why something cannot be fabricated as planned and propose a practical solution instead of simply highlighting the problem.
• Attention to Detail: Structural steel requires accuracy. Small errors in dimensions, orientation, welds or holes can cause major problems during assembly/installation.
• Fabrication Knowledge: Understands cutting, fitting, welding, machining, assembly and how materials behave during fabrication.
• Work under pressure: Production problems often require quick assessment while maintaining safety and quality.
• Documentation discipline: Can properly record technical issues, revisions, inspections, deviations and corrective actions.
• Good communications: This role will need to work with different workers from all different countries and also different department
