At Yamazaki Mazak Singapore, we’re always looking for dedicated individuals to drive the future of advanced manufacturing and machine tool technology.Here, your work powers industries, builds possibilities, and shapes tomorrow’s world.Come build excellence with us.Role Purpose:The Export Control Manager is responsible for ensuring Yamazaki Mazak Singapore’s full compliance with export control regulations, including Japan METI (FEFTA), Singapore Strategic Goods Control Act (SGCA/SGCO), and Mazak Global Internal Compliance Program (ICP).This role serves as the central point of contact for export control matters, supporting daily operations, business travel compliance, and technology transfer controls—while providing critical backup support to the existing Export Control Department (ECD) function to mitigate single-point-of-failure risk.Key Responsibilities1. Export Control Compliance & GovernanceImplement and enforce company export control policies across all departmentsEnsure compliance with:Japan METI (FEFTA) regulationsSingapore Strategic Goods Control Act (SGCA/SGCO)Mazak Global Internal Compliance Program (ICP)Monitor regulatory updates and recommend policy/process improvements2. Classification & Risk AssessmentPerform classification of:Machine-tool parts, CNC components, and sub-assembliesTechnical data (drawings, NC programs, PLC logic, manuals, etc.)Assess risk of Intangible Technology Transfer (ITT), including deemed exportsProvide guidance when classification is unclear and escalate to HQ ECD where required3. Permit Management & Regulatory SubmissionsCoordinate and apply for export permits for controlled goods and technologiesTrack approval timelines and ensure compliance before shipment or transferLiaise with relevant authorities (e.g., Singapore Customs) and Mazak Japan HQ4. Stakeholder Engagement & AdvisoryAct as the main advisory point for:Sales, Service, Production, Engineering teamsCross-border technical discussions or customer interactionsSupport departments in identifying export control risks in operations5. Training, Awareness & DocumentationConduct regular export control training and awareness sessions on prohibited items and export compliance risksDevelop user-friendly guidelines, SOPs, and checklistsMaintain accurate documentation, audit trails, and compliance recordsEnsure readiness for internal and external audits6. Incident Management & EscalationInvestigate and report potential breaches (e.g., unauthorized data transfer, non-compliance)Escalate issues to management and Mazak Japan HQ ECD where requiredSupport corrective and preventive action implementationRequirements & CompetenciesEducation & Professional BackgroundBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Compliance, Legal, Business, or related fieldCertification in export control / trade compliance (preferred but not mandatory)Experience8-10 years of experience in:Export control / trade compliance / regulatory complianceManufacturing or precision engineering industry preferredFamiliarity with:Export licensing processesTechnical data control / ITT risksCore Competencies & SkillsStrong analytical and regulatory interpretation skillsHigh attention to detail and compliance mindsetAbility to work cross-functionally in a manufacturing environmentStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to handle sensitive/confidential information with integrity
