Job summary

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) invites applications for a solutions-driven, energetic professional to help administer and shape Singapore's building regulations and policies.

You will review plans for safety and sustainability, develop future-ready policy processes, study trends for evidence-based decisions, and work with partner agencies to maintain a pro-business, productive construction sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/mechanical/electrical engineering, architecture or building-related discipline.
• Strong analytical, writing and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve building plan submissions; evaluate designs for safety, environmental sustainability and accessibility.
• Develop strategies, policies and processes to keep Singapore's building control framework robust and future-ready.
• Study data and industry trends to support evidence-based policy decisions.
• Manage complex feedback cases and investigations into potential Building Control Act violations; enforce where needed.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to foster a pro-business environment while safeguarding productivity in construction.

[What the role is]The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) champions the development of a future ready built environment for Singapore. Besides regulating building safety, we lead and transform the built environment sector in delivering a safe, high quality, sustainable and friendly built environment.We are looking for solutions-driven, energetic and self-motivated individuals who are inspired to play an active role to make a difference to Singapore’s built environment.[What you will be working on]You will play a key role in administering and shaping building regulations and policies. Your responsibilities will include:Reviewing and approving building plan submissions, using your technical knowledge to evaluate designs for safety, environmental sustainability, and barrier-free accessibility.Developing strategies, policies, and processes to ensure Singapore's building control framework remains robust and future-ready.Studying data and industry trends to support evidence-based policy decisions that shape how Singapore builds.Managing complex feedback cases and conducting investigations into potential violations of the Building Control Act and Regulations, taking appropriate enforcement action where needed.Working closely with partner agencies to create a pro-business environment that supports a thriving construction industry while ensuring construction productivity.[What we are looking for]A degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Architecture or Building-related discipline.At least 3-4 years of experience in building design or construction supervision is preferred.Expertise in a technical area under the Approved Document will be an advantage.Good command of spoken and written English.Good analytical, writing and communication skills.Successful candidates will be offered contract employment.
