Job summary

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Singapore invites an experienced Transformation Leader to govern its strategic portfolio and deliver multi-year programmes across risk, technology and operations. You will lead governance forums, ensure outcomes and sponsor engagement, while driving benefits tracking and credible plans.

You will partner with Executive Management to align budgeting, milestones and governance, ensuring rigorous delivery standards in a regulated banking environment.

Qualifications

• Approximately 15+ years’ experience in banking, financial services, consulting or large-scale transformation environments.
• Significant senior leadership experience of complex programmes and portfolios.
• Strong understanding of banking technology, operations, transformation and regulated delivery.
• Experience establishing or leading an enterprise Transformation Office, Strategic Change Office, EPMO or equivalent.
• Proven track record in multi-year, multi-jurisdiction programmes with financial management and governance.
• Credibility presenting to Executive Committees and senior governance forums.
• Formal qualifications such as MSP, PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead governance of the bank’s strategic transformation portfolio, providing Executive Management with a clear, forward-looking view of portfolio performance.
• Establish and maintain the portfolio governance framework covering initiation, prioritisation, funding, mobilisation, execution, stage gates, change control and closure.
• Own executive portfolio reporting covering delivery confidence, milestones, financial performance, risks, dependencies, resources and decisions.
• Develop forward-looking indicators that expose delivery risk before milestones are missed; ensure reporting provides insight and recommendations.
• Partner with Risk, Compliance, Finance, Technology, Operations and Internal Audit; support regulatory reviews relating to transformation execution and governance.
• Identify competing priorities, resource contention, interdependencies and concentration risks; recommend sequencing, acceleration, remediation, pause or termination where appropriate.
