Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a skilled Technician/Assembler for its Singapore site to perform assembly, soldering, cleaning, and related manufacturing tasks in a cleanroom environment.

You will collaborate with engineers to implement process improvements and ensure strict adherence to procedures and quality standards. The role requires hands-on experience with sub-assemblies, soldering, and chemical handling, with flexibility to work in 3 shifts on-site.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering with at least 2 years manufacturing experience.
• Works in a cleanroom and adheres to safety policies.
• Experience with sub-assemblies, soldering, and chemical handling.
• Shift hours flexibility required.

Responsibilities

• Perform manufacturing tasks including setup, calibration, rework, and quality testing of parts and final assemblies.
• Use software to collect/analyze operating data for on-line adjustments.
• Collaborate with engineers to optimize manufacturing processes.
• Conduct experiments with engineers to improve processes.
• Identify production abnormalities and drive quick resolutions.
• Improve production yield, reduce scrap, and enhance OBQ.
• Contribute Kaizen ideas and participate in SGA activities.
• Participate in 6S to maintain a clean and efficient workplace.

Job Description

• Execute the assembly of electronic components according to specifications, ensuring accuracy and precision.
• Perform mechanical assembly tasks in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
• Able to do soldering using ultrasonic/ normal solder
• Conduct thorough inspections of sub-assemblies using a microscope to identify any defects or irregularities.
• Employ chemical cleaning solutions to clean and prepare sub-assemblies for further processing.
• Work closely with the Engineering team to understand and implement functionality updates.
• Provide feedback on assembly procedures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications & Skills

• Comfortable to work in a cleanroom environment and are able to follow the strict policy and procedures in the cleanroom environment.
• Follow, comply and ensure good housekeeping and safety in factory
• Comfortable and able to manage chemical solutions during cleaning process
• Must be open to work in shift hours

Technician Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform tasks associated with all manufacturing operations, including setup, calibration, rework, and quality testing for parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
• Utilize advanced software programs to collect and analyze operating data for on-line adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers to determine and develop methods and procedures to optimize and control manufacturing processes.
• Work closely with engineers to conduct experiments and implement process improvements.
• Participate in abnormality detection to identify and resolve issues in production processes promptly.
• Drive improvements in production yield, scrap reduction, and Out-of-Box Quality (OBQ) performance.
• Contribute Kaizen ideas and actively engage in Small Group Activities (SGA) to support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in 6S activities to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

Education & Experience

• A Diploma in Engineering or its equivalents with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in Manufacturing.
• Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment and adhering strictly to policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated commitment to good housekeeping and safety practices in the workplace.
• Hands-on experience with sub-assemblies, soldering, and handling chemical solutions.
• Ability to manage chemical solutions effectively during the cleaning process.
• Flexibility to work shift hours

Working Conditions for Assembler/ Technician

• This role is 100% onsite
• 3 shifts (7am to 3.30pm, 3pm to 11pm, 11pm to 7am)
