Job summary

SEAGATE SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking an engineer to own and maintain sputter equipment, drive uptime and OEE targets, and perform advanced troubleshooting in a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment.

You will collaborate with production, maintenance, and cross-functional teams, develop preventive maintenance strategies, and contribute to continuous improvement through documentation, SOPs, and adoption of AI-driven tools.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering.
• 1–2 years of equipment engineering or maintenance experience in semiconductor, media, or vacuum environments.
• Hands-on exposure to vacuum systems, sputter equipment, or thin film processing is a plus.
• Interest in applying AI/analytics for equipment performance is an advantage.

Responsibilities

About the role - you will:

• Own and maintain sputter equipment performance
• Ensure equipment meets uptime, quality, and OEE targets
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment issues
• Drive maintenance excellence
• Develop, execute, and optimize preventive and corrective maintenance strategies
• Support reduction of unscheduled downtime through reliability improvements

Technical problem solving & improvement

• Analyze process/equipment data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Implement engineering solutions to improve yield, uptime, and cost performance

Support production operations

• Work closely with production, maintenance, and cross-functional teams to resolve issues
• Provide technical support during shift operations and critical tool recovery

Process and equipment optimization

• Define and optimize process parameters and control points
• Support process qualification, engineering trials, and change implementation

Documentation and system improvements

• Develop and update SOPs, PM procedures, and troubleshooting guides
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, cost reduction, automation)

Compliance & safety

• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and audit requirements (e.g., RBA, internal audits)
• Maintain safe working practices in cleanroom environment

Collaboration and knowledge sharing

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians and specialists
• Support structured training and effective knowledge transfer within the team
• Promote the adoption of AI-driven tools and digital solutions to enhance troubleshooting, predictive maintenance, and decision-making
• Encourage the use of AI for data analysis, pattern recognition, and continuous improvement initiatives

About you:

• Strong problem-solving capability with a structured approach to root cause analysis
• Good data analysis, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills, with exposure or interest in applying AI-driven insights for equipment performance improvement
• Familiar with equipment control systems, automation, and standard engineering tools; knowledge or willingness to learn AI/analytics applications is an added advantage
• A collaborative team player with strong communication and cross-functional engagement skills

Your experience includes:

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline
• 1-2 years of relevant experience in equipment engineering or maintenance within semiconductor, media, or vacuum environment
• Hands-on exposure (through work, projects, or internships) in vacuum systems, sputter equipment, or thin film processing technologies will be an advantage

Our Woodlands site is one of the largest electronics manufacturing sites in Singapore, housing our recording media operations.

Spread over three sites, it is easily accessible via bus or from the MRT Station, with many employees taking mass transportation to work.
