Job summary

SHARP LEARNERS TUITION AND ENRICHMENT CENTRE PTE. LTD. is seeking a teacher to work with children aged 3 to 12, delivering reading and comprehension instruction and supporting early literacy development in a lively classroom.

The role requires daily preparation of lessons and resources, and regular updates to parents on student progress. The ideal candidate holds degree-level qualifications related to education, is a fluent English speaker with clear pronunciation, and is available to teach on

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualifications, preferably in Teaching/Education/Early Childhood/Studies/English Language and English Phonics.
• English speaker with a universally recognisable accent and a strong command of the English Language.
• Preferably at least three years of related teaching experience, or similar.
• An enthusiasm for teaching young children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willing to teach on weekends and weekday evenings.

Responsibilities

• Working with children between the ages of 3 to 12 years old.
• Teaching reading, comprehension skills and pre-reading skills to children.
• Lesson preparation and marking, including the preparation of appropriate teaching resources and participating in teacher and curriculum meetings on a weekly basis.
• Maintaining regular open communication with parents, through informal, formal and provide regular updates to parents on students’ performance and progression.
• Conducting ad hoc replacement lessons and one-to-one lessons.
• Helping children develop social skills and positive classroom behaviour.
• Creating a conducive learning environment for students, safeguarding their wellbeing at all times.
• Ability to express themselves clearly in standard English in order to be able to role model and teach young learners the correct sounds/pronunciation.
• Love and enjoy working with children.
• Any other ad-hoc duties.
