Barry Callebaut Chocolate Asia Pacific Pte Ltd is seeking an Engineering Assistant focused on maintenance and improvements for process equipment to ensure safe, compliant and efficient production. You will handle breakdown and preventive maintenance, carry out upgrades, and support utilities maintenance including boilers, chillers and compressors.
The role covers troubleshooting, site coordination with production, and driving energy efficiency and quality compliance.
The Engineering Assistant is responsible for facilitating effective PM, troubleshooting, repair, installation and improvement of process equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient production, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, GMP, HACCP compliance. Maintenance of production equipment to ensure that the line efficiency and quality targets are met. Provide maintenance and startup support in both Process/ Packing equipment, Utilities equipment (NH3 plant, Boilers, air compressors) in both mechanical and electrical task.
Breakdown Maintenance.
Diagnose and correct equipment failure in breakdown maintenance.
Coordinate with production on Plan maintenance.
Plan for urgent follow-up equipment repair.
Access and provide a solid solution to a breakdown and minor stops.
Maintain work system in Maximo System.
Execute Preventive maintenance Tasks.
Execute a Preventive maintenance tasks during the change over.
Review effectiveness of preventive maintenance program.
Able to observe the abnormality during the PM and providing the solution.
Execute equipment improvement and modification.
Analyze/Monitor equipment breakdown and suggest appropriate improvement.
Suggest improvement on work methods and procedures.
Take the opportunity from the RCA, provide a solution for a preventive action.
Initiate and follow up Energy efficiency projects with Engineers and supervisors.
Monitor the critical energy parameter with Engineer and assist them with recommended solution.
Quality approach in Maintenance.
Ensure CCP equipment maintenance/calibration/validation are conducted according to the specification and timelines.
Ensure intrusive maintenance work are properly conducted with joint effort from other functional team members.
Conduct internal GMP / Quality/ Foreign Material Audit and follow up with the rectification / improvement works to improve the Quality and GMP condition.
Highlights spare parts shortages based on Inventory level.
Updates to the Supervisor, Planner, Engineer, whenever consume the spare parts, to avoid the zero inventory.
Assist supervisors to conduct on site feasibility studies for improvement and modification works required for facilities, building, equipment, utilities, and ensure complete all assigned project on time on budget.
Issuance of Work permits to subcontractors and ensuring good Safety/GMP practices are complied.
Management of vendors, service providers as well as contractors for all projects and installation works. Coordination of Swap samples.
Ensure proper isolation of potential hazard sources (LOTOTO); before releasing equipment for installation work. To perform normalization as well as checking system are in place.
Assist in testing and commissioning with vendors to ensure project are completed in accordance with the requirements.
Work in a team to propose improvement works targeting at cost reduction; improve efficiencies; productivity; Quality; Safety.
Participate as part of the Emergency response team and assist in conducting fire drills and assessment.
Assist QA in conducting quality and sample checks on utilities, complaint root cause findings. etc.
NTC / ITE / Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering.
Minimum 3 years of experience with similar function supporting front line maintenance operations of plant facilities / utilities (e.g. Chillers, Boilers, Air compressors, etc.) and production machinery in a manufacturing plant environment; preferable with food manufacturing experience.
Demonstrate the ability to analyze, solve problems, planning and lead others in problem solving and execute tasks assign.
Experience in problem solving tools (e.g. 4M, RCA analysis) would be an advantage.
Fundamental knowledge in mechanical fittings / pumps / gears / pneumatic and hydraulic system and basic control system
Basic electrical & control systems knowledge
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manuals
Strong exposure to Utilities (boilers, chillers, air compressors), Manufacturing equipment
LEW/PLC/Welding/Project management experience is a plus
