Job summary

WuXi AppTec in Singapore seeks a field-oriented maintenance engineer responsible for the upkeep of process and utility equipment. You will perform corrective and preventive tasks, follow SOPs and WI, and apply LOTO for safety-critical work.

The role involves participating in shutdowns, startups, and servicing, with strong emphasis on diagnosing root causes and minimizing downtime. Prior pharma or petrochemical exposure is preferred; welding is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma / ITC / NITEC / NTC in Mechanical or Mechatronics with 5 years of maintenance or engineering experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience in pharmaceutical or petrochemical environments is preferred.
• Hands-on maintenance knowledge of process equipment (e.g., filters, driers, reactors) and related instrumentation.
• Ability to work with process controls, sensors, transmitters and field instruments.
• Welding skills are a plus and Right First Time mindset is emphasized.

Responsibilities

Job description

Carryout maintenance and inspection of utilities/process equipment within established Service Level Agreement (SLA) and in compliance with procedures to ensure their uninterrupted availability to support utility and process operations.

During the greenfield project stage, the incumbent will actively participate in all engineering related activities, not limited to Mechanical, Electrical/Instrument, Piping (MEP), to support and contribute to the successful startup of the facility, such as perform P&ID field walk-downs and inspections to review work for conformance with design requirements, applicable codes/standards and project procedures.

This is a field oriented job and the incumbent should be prepared to actively participate in shift work or after working hour duties.

Responsibilities:

• Performs corrective and preventive maintenance for site equipment which includes process and utility equipment.
• Execute maintenance and repair work orders by adhering to maintenance SOPs and Work Instructions (WI).
• Apply LOTO where applicable and perform maintenance jobs on static and rotating equipment according to job plans or Work Instruction (WI).
• Carryout and coordinate annual or routine utilities shutdown, startup, swing over and equipment servicing and inspection.
• Promptly identify, provide troubleshooting and diagnostic of equipment failure to determine the root cause and perform immediate corrective actions with minimum supervision.
• Ensure that all work orders are completed and updated timely in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Participate and contribute to plant and equipment improvement efforts to improve reliability and availability of equipment.
• Maintain high level of EHS, GMP compliance and good housekeeping throughout maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance work.
• Provide feedback on maintenance issues and trends associated with failures and root causes.
• Any other appointments assigned by Section Head.

Job requirements:

• Diploma / ITC / NITEC / NTC in Mechanical or Mechatronics with 5 years of experience in maintenance or engineering field with industrial experience.
• Work experience in Pharmaceutical or Petrochemical industry is preferred.
• Specific maintenance knowledge, hands-on experience and simple operation knowledge in process equipment such as filter dryer, centrifuge, single cone dryer, glasslined reactors, temperature control unit etc. will be key consideration.
• Familiarity with process equipment's instrument such as temperature, pressure, level, flow, RH, analyzers, pneumatic system and others (e.g. Sensors, indicators, recorders, transmitters, transducers, control valves, annunciators, pH and conductivity meters) will be advantageous.
• Welding skill will be an added advantage.
• Always work towards 'Right First Time' mindset to prevent rework or property damage that can jeopardize maintenance operation cost or manufacturing schedule.
• Ability to prepare report or Excel tables in MS Office and complete workorders in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
