Job summary

FAR EAST GROUP LIMITED in Singapore is seeking a motivated Refrigeration Design / Project Engineer to support refrigeration and cold room projects. The role focuses on system design, equipment selection, technical documentation, and coordination with internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.

You will perform heat load calculations, design cold rooms, prepare drawings and P&ID, and collaborate with production and R&D.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Refrigeration or related field.
• Experience in HVAC&R, refrigeration, cold room, or project engineering preferred.
• Basic knowledge of heat load calculation, equipment selection, and drawings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; SolidWorks experience is an advantage.
• Able to prepare technical drawings and P&ID.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willing to learn and grow in refrigeration system design.

Responsibilities

• Perform heat load calculations and cold room design for chillers, freezers, and other refrigeration applications.
• Select refrigeration equipment including compressors, condensers, evaporators, controls, and components.
• Prepare technical documents such as submittals, equipment schedules, and design reports.
• Create 2D drawings, 3D rack assembly drawings, and P&ID.
• Coordinate with production on rack fabrication, piping, control panels, and installation details.
• Coordinate with R&D on evaporator and heat exchanger design.
• Coordinate with suppliers, consultants, customers, and internal teams to support project execution.
• Assist in material planning, BOM, and project cost coordination.
• Attend customer meetings and site discussions when necessary.
• Support testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting during projects.
• Travel regionally to provide technical assistance to dealers and subsidiaries.

Job description

We are looking for a motivated and willing-to-learn Refrigeration Design / Project Engineer to support our refrigeration and cold room projects.

This role is mainly focused on refrigeration system design, equipment selection, technical documentation, and coordination with internal teams to support project execution. The successful candidate will be involved in heat load calculation, cold room design, preparation of technical drawings, and coordination with production and R&D teams.

This is a good opportunity for candidates who are keen to develop their career in refrigeration engineering and gain exposure to modern green refrigeration solutions, including the latest CO₂ system technology

Key Responsibilities:

Project

• Perform heat load calculation and cold room design for chiller, freezer, and other refrigeration applications
• Select suitable refrigeration equipment, including compressors, condensing units, evaporators, controls, and related components
• Prepare technical documents such as technical submittals, equipment schedules, and design reports
• Prepare 2D drawings, 3D refrigeration rack assembly drawings, and P&ID

Coordination& Project Support

• Coordinate with the production team on refrigeration rack fabrication, piping arrangement, control panel requirements, and installation details
• Coordinate with the R&D team on evaporator design and related technical requirements
• Coordinate with the R&D team on heat exchanger design and related technical requirements
• Liaise with suppliers, consultants, contractors, customers, and internal teams to support smooth project execution
• Assist in material planning, BOM preparation, and project-related cost coordination where required

Customer& Site Support

• Attend customer meetings and site discussions when necessary to explain the proposed equipment and system design
• Support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and project execution when required
• Work closely with customers and colleagues to clarify technical requirements and resolve project-related issues
• Regional travel is required to provide technical assistance and support to dealers, distributors, and subsidiaries.

Other

• Perform any other ad hoc tasks reasonably assigned by supervisor

Requirement

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, or related field
• Experience in HVAC&R, refrigeration, cold room, or project engineering work is preferred
• Basic knowledge of heat load calculation, equipment selection, and technical drawing preparation
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Solidworks experience is an advantage
• Able to understand and prepare technical drawings and P&ID
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Willing to learn and grow in refrigeration system design and project engineering
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Willing to attend customer meetings or site visits when required
