Job summary

Singtel Group invites applications for Engineer, Mobile Value Service Operations to lead automation and operations of mobile data networks in a hybrid native/virtualized environment supporting 4G and 5G.

The role demands hands-on engineering in PNF/VNF/CNF platforms, security checks, patch management, and coordinating with vendors to ensure high service quality and rapid incident resolution. You will mentor a team and drive improvements across testing and DR procedures.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Computer Science, Networking or Telecommunications/Mobile Communications.
• Certifications in Networking (CCNA/CCNP), Network Security and AI/ML preferred.
• Strong programming/scripting knowledge (Python, Bash) and networking fundamentals.
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux internals and firewall operations.
• Experience with open-source monitoring tools on UNIX/Linux.
• Experience with cloud platforms and virtualization.

Responsibilities

• Automate and engineer operations for mobile data network environments (4G/5G).
• Conduct security compliance checks including VAPT for projects and operations.
• Maintain and operate Mobile PNF/VNF/CNF platforms in hybrid native/virtualized environments.
• Lead a team handling patch loading, software/hardware upgrades, and configuration changes.
• Provide 24/7 standby support for handling outages and service degradation.
• Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis for software/hardware faults.
• Coordinate with vendors for delivery, testing and timely patches.
• Create/maintain test documentation and disaster recovery procedures.
• Support Planning and Product Marketing with technical feasibility studies.
• Manage department operating/capital expenditures and maintenance contracts.
• Review and improve testing processes to ensure high network quality and resilience.

• Key focus is on fast growing automation demand with state of art deployment in Mobile Postpaid & prepaid environment.
• Responsible for automation and process Engineering
• Responsible for security compliance check for both on-going projects and routine yearly VAPT check.
• Responsible for the operations of the mobile PNF (Physical Network Function), VNF (Virtualized Network Function) & CNF(Container Network Function) platforms are being maintained optimally.
• Lead and supervise a team to carry out Mobile Data Network change management including patch loading, implementation of software, hardware upgrades and configuration changes on mobile data core network elements like Policy servers (PCRF / PCF) and OCS(On-line Charging system) for both postpaid & prepaid system and its support nodes in a hybrid (Native & Virtualized) environment for both 4G and 5G deployment.
• Lead and supervise a team to drive network / service automation including testing and rolling out new mobile-related products and services for 5G and existing 4G technology.
• As upgrades and patch loading may disrupt mobile services the successful candidate is will need to work outside normal working hours to carry out such activities.
• The successful candidate is required to be on 24/7 standby alert to handle unplanned system faults and/or service degradation.
• Troubleshoot and perform root causes failure analysis for software & hardware faults related to the network nodes.
• Liaise and co-ordinate with system vendor(s) for the delivery, testing and timely implementation of new software, hardware and patches.
• Create and maintain engineering test documentation and guidelines system functional and mobile services testing.
• Perform and coordinate disaster recovery activity expeditiously in times of service disruptions so as to minimize service downtime and revenue loss.
• Provide engineering support / expertise to Planning and Product Marketing in technical feasibility studies and trials of new products and services.
• Administer the department operating/capital expenditures, inclusive of negotiation /renewal of maintenance contracts.
• Ensure that service quality & performance of Mobile Data (packet switched) related services are maintained at high quality, with minimum service disruption.
• Review existing best practices and processes for system acceptance testing and introduce preventive or optimized measures to improve the network quality cum resilience in a proactive manner.

Make an impact by:

• Degree in Engineering with a major in Computer Science, IP Networking, or Telecommunications/Mobile Communication.
• Preference for candidates with certifications in Networking (e.g., CCNA/CCNP), Network Security and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML).
• Knowledge of programming and scripting such as Python, Bash.
• A good understanding of network protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS), UNIX/Linux system internals (kernel, drivers, file systems, virtual memory) and Firewall operations.
• Experience implementing, operating, and supporting open-source tools for system and security monitoring on UNIX/Linux platforms, ansible, Microsoft Copilot.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms and technologies.
• Knowledge of 4G, and 5G telecommunications technologies, protocols, and standards.
