The Electrical Project Director is responsible for the overall strategic, technical, commercial and operational management of the company’s electrical engineering projects, from tender and planning through execution, testing, commissioning and final handover.

• Lead and oversee multiple electrical engineering and installation projects.
• Provide overall direction for project planning, execution, monitoring and completion.
• Develop project strategies, master schedules, manpower plans and resource allocation.
• Review project requirements, contracts, specifications, drawings and technical submissions.
• Oversee electrical systems including power distribution, LV systems, switchboards, cabling, containment, lighting and associated electrical installations.
• Ensure projects are executed according to approved drawings, contractual requirements and applicable standards.
• Supervise Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Technicians and site teams.
• Establish project responsibilities, reporting structures and performance targets.
• Monitor project progress, milestones, productivity, manpower deployment and material requirements.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Chair or attend project progress, coordination, technical and management meetings.
• Provide senior-level technical direction and resolve complex electrical engineering and site issues.
• Review and approve method statements, work procedures, technical proposals and project documentation.
• Oversee testing, inspection, commissioning and final handover of electrical systems.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, procurement, variation works and overall commercial performance.
• Review quotations, tenders, subcontractor proposals and technical/commercial submissions.
• Support contract negotiations and major procurement decisions.
• Ensure project works meet quality, workplace safety and contractual requirements.
• Identify project risks, delays and technical constraints and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance.
• Ensure adequate manpower, equipment and materials are available to meet project schedules.
• Review project progress claims, variation orders and completion documentation where applicable.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and key business partners.
• Support tendering and business development for new electrical engineering projects.
• Participate in estimating, technical evaluation and feasibility assessment for prospective projects.
• Develop project management procedures and improve operational efficiency.
• Provide regular project, financial and operational reports to senior management.
• Mentor Project Managers and engineering personnel and develop the company’s technical capability.
• Ensure projects are completed within agreed scope, budget, quality and schedule.
• Represent the company at senior-level project and client meetings.
• Support the long-term growth and development of the company’s electrical engineering business.

Suitable candidate profile

Preferably:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronic Engineering / related engineering discipline
• Strong electrical construction or engineering experience
• Significant project-management experience
• Experience managing multiple projects, engineering teams and subcontractors
• Strong knowledge of electrical installation, testing and commissioning
• Good commercial, contractual and project-control capability
• Strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills
