Job summary

A growing biotechnology firm in Singapore seeks to hire an experienced engineer for maintenance of electrical and instrumentation within the facility. This role requires a degree in Electrical & Instrumentation and at least 5 years of relevant industry experience. Responsibilities include troubleshooting equipment, ensuring GxP compliance, and participating in the facility's startup phase. The Scope

You will bepart of Esco Aster's Engineering team and contribute to the overall sitemission and objectives. You are responsible for maintenance of plant electrical& instrumentation, site calibration activities, equipment faulttroubleshooting and technical support on laboratory instrument. This positionwill involve the startup phase, liaising with the engineering firm on thedesign and construction of the facility, ensuring that the installations complywith safety guidelines, design intent and quality standards are met.

Job Responsibilities

  • Providetechnical support on entire plant electrical and instrumentation includinganalyzers, maintenance diagnostics, calibration and reliability issues.
  • Assign andtrack site calibration schedule for relevant equipment and instruments toensure no overdue, proper procedures are followed, quality of work andtroubleshooting to resolve equipment problems during routine operation.
  • Lead andcarry out site maintenance/calibration activities and co-ordinate with variousend users if necessary.
  • Liaise andco-ordinate with external calibration service providers for routine calibrationactivities.
  • Developprocedures and work method statement to comply with regulatory codes,specifications, standards and guidelines for the routine maintenance andcalibration activities.
  • Support andparticipate FAT, SATs, commissioning and validation activities.
  • Carry outand implement small improvement initiatives and engineering projects.
  • Participate,facilitate and review instrumentation discrepancies, root cause analyses andtimely close out investigation report with follow up on all corrective actionsand preventive actions.
  • Improve theplant's overall instrumentation reliability; including updating documentation,create maintenance procedures, loop drawings, P&ID's, schematics, wiringdiagrams, improving the PM program, recommending spares and replacing obsoleteequipment.
  • Provide ad-hoc technical support on manufacturing andlaboratory equipment in timely manner.
  • Ensuremaintenance and calibration services are delivered in a safe, compliant,reliable and efficient manner according to end user or customer expectations.
  • Interactwith system owners and QA to assist in implementation of plant changes,including equipment additions, modifications and/or deletions.
  • Ensure GxPcompliance for all maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Ensuretimely review of all work order, closing of maintenance work order; initiatefollow up work order and discrepancy notification as necessary.
  • Ensure allwork activities are carried out according to site EHS procedures; and incompliance with EHS procedures/standards.
  • Ensure auditreadiness by complying with effective standards, regulatory/statutory and GxPrequirement to protect product and to prevent major compliance observation.
  • Implementpreventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipmentavailability and optimize life-cycle costs.
  • Conductinstrument criticality assessment with end user and setup instrument masterdata to establish calibration frequency and schedule in CMMS system.
  • Ensure thequality and accuracy of data and records of maintenance/calibration of theinstruments.
  • Establishand maintain the proper stocking levels of parts and equipment required toprovide maximum equipment uptime at the lowest possible costs.
  • Responsiblefor planning of maintenance activities with various departments to ensureresources, parts and vendors are on site per schedule for maintenance work.
  • Undertaketasks assigned by leaders as and when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Degree orDiploma in Electrical & Instrumentation, with a strong background ininstrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Minimum of 5years’ work experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry.
  • Minimum of 5years' experience in E/I and calibration, with process instrumentation andanalyzers in a pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing facility and projectstart-up.
  • Must haveworking knowledge on various plant instrument and motor control including pH,flow, temperature, pressure, conductivity and mass measurements, load cells,control valves, panel schematic diagram, VFD's, AC and DC control methods.
  • Must haveworking knowledge on electrical system and high voltage equipment liketransformer, switch gear, diesel power generator, electric heater, busbar withdistribution panel and UPS.
  • Familiarwith CMMS system in terms of work order execution, PM/calibration schedule andtracking. CMMS software with Blue Mountain RAM software is highly preferred.
  • Familiar andunderstand GxP requirement for routine maintenance and calibration.
  • Experiencewith start-up, commissioning and qualification of various process equipment,including requirements for documentation and testing.
  • Able to workindependently, self-starter, self-motivated and task oriented.
  • Goodcommunication skills and able to openly communicate and escalate any relevantissues.
  • A strongteam player and customer orientated to work with both internal and externalstakeholders.
  • During thestart-up phase of the facility, be willing to take on expanded role to set upthe team and workflow/processes as well as expanded scope as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with high computerliteracy
  • Needs to beresourceful in sourcing out materials and parts required equipment setup orrepair.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific data and publications
  • Ability to author or review protocols, technical reports and technology transfer documents.
  • Ability to author or review standard operating procedures and other related documents.
