Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Construction Projects

Location: Singapore

Job Summary

We are seeking an Assistant Electrical Engineer with a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and 1-2 years of experience in Singapore construction projects. The candidate will support the planning, coordination, installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical works while ensuring compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, safety requirements and applicable Singapore regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager and Project Engineer in planning and executing electrical works for construction projects.
• Coordinate electrical installation activities with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Review tender drawings, construction drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
• Prepare or coordinate shop drawings, single-line diagrams, builders’ work drawings and as-built drawings.
• Assist with material calculations, quantity take-offs, procurement schedules and material submissions.
• Prepare technical submissions, method statements, risk assessments, inspection requests and work-progress reports.
• Monitor site progress, manpower, materials and subcontractor activities against the approved project schedule.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure electrical installations comply with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate electrical works with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire-protection and other M&E services.
• Identify and resolve site clashes, installation issues and technical discrepancies.
• Attend site, technical, coordination and progress meetings.
• Raise requests for information when drawings or specifications require clarification.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, containment, earthing and lightning-protection systems.
• Assist with inspections by consultants, clients, authorities and Licensed Electrical Workers.
• Track and rectify defects, non-conformances and outstanding works.
• Prepare testing records, operation and maintenance manuals, handover documents and as-built information.
• Ensure that electrical work is performed safely and under the supervision of the appropriate Licensed Electrical Worker where required.
• Comply with workplace-safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements and project quality plans.

Requirements

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
• One to two years of relevant experience in building construction, M&E contracting or electrical project coordination.
• Basic knowledge of LV electrical distribution, switchboards, containment, cabling, lighting, earthing and lightning-protection systems.
• Able to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and single-line diagrams.
• Familiarity with Singapore construction practices, site coordination and submission processes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of Revit or BIM coordination would be advantageous.
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple site activities.
• Willing to work at construction sites and outside normal working hours when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on commercial, residential, industrial or infrastructure projects in Singapore.
• Familiarity with relevant Singapore Standards, codes of practice and authority requirements.
• Experience preparing shop drawings, technical submissions and testing-and-commissioning documentation.
• Relevant safety training, such as the applicable Construction Safety Orientation Course, would be advantageous.
• Class 3 driving licence would be an advantage where travel between project sites is required.
