Job summary

TECHELM Technologies is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design AC/DC EV charging systems and LV/MV installations in Singapore. You will prepare SLDs, wiring schematics, and protection plans while ensuring compliance with SS722, SS638, CP5, EMA, and LTA EV standards.

You will coordinate shutdowns, energisation, and site verification with PE/LEW, utility providers, and contractors. A Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years in electrical design are required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering with PE/LEW progression considered.
• Min 3+ years experience in electrical design; EV charger project design preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and SLD preparation; load flow and protection coordination knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore regulations (SS722, SS638, CP5, EMA, LTA EV requirements).
• Excellent English communication and documentation skills; driving licence (Class 3/3A) for site travel.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for AC/DC EV charging stations and LV/MV installations; perform load, fault level, diversity factor, and cable sizing.
• Prepare and review SLDs, wiring schematics, cable schedules, earthing/protection plans, and site layouts using AutoCAD / Revit / ETAP.
• Plan and execute safe shutdowns, LOTO, and re-energisation of LV/MV switchgear; liaise with utilities.
• Coordinate with PE and LEW for design endorsement and site verification; attend design reviews and site meetings.
• Prepare design reports, compliance submissions, and maintain project documentation.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

Design & Documentation

• Design electrical systems for AC/DC EV charging stations and general LV/MV installations; calculate load profiles, fault levels, diversity factors, and cable sizing
• Prepare & review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), wiring schematics, cable schedules, earthing/protection plans, and site layout drawings using AutoCAD / Revit / ETAP
• Ensure designs comply with SS722 (EV infrastructure), SS638, CP5, EMA Supply Authority requirements, and LTA EV mandates
• Produce technical specifications, design briefs, and tender drawings; update documentation throughout project lifecycle

Supply Shutdown & Energisation

• Plan, coordinate, and execute controlled supply shutdowns, isolations, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and safe re-energisation of LV/MV switchgear and distribution
• Prepare isolation plans, switching schedules, and safety method statements; liaise with utility providers and site teams on shutdown windows
• Attend site during shutdown/energisation; verify circuit integrity, protection settings, voltage levels, and phase rotation before handover
• Coordinate with LEW for supply activation, inspection, and certification; ensure all switching work follows approved safety protocols

Site Coordination & Liaison

• Work closely with PE (Professional Engineer) for design endorsement, LEW for field verification and supply approval
• Attend site meetings, design reviews, pre-commissioning checks, and progress coordination sessions
• Resolve site technical queries; align design intent with on-site conditions and contractor capabilities
• Prepare design reports, meeting minutes, and compliance submissions to authorities and asset owners

Requirements

• Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering; recognised for PE/LEW progression
• Min 3+ years experience in electrical design; direct EV charger project design highly preferred
• Proficient in AutoCAD / SLD preparation; familiar with load flow & protection coordination software
• Strong knowledge of SS722, SS638, CP5, EMA regulations, and LTA EV requirements
• Competent in isolation procedures, switching management, and safety coordination for supply systems
• Understanding of PE/LEW submission & approval workflows in Singapore
• Fluent in English; strong documentation, meeting communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Class 3/3A driving licence - site travel required
