Job summary

China Unicom (Singapore) Operations Pte Ltd seeks an experienced Electrical & ELV System Design Specialist to lead ELV, smart building, and MEP design across Singapore and the ASEAN region. You will be responsible for ELV schematics, drawings, buildability reviews and ensuring project deliverables meet regulatory and client requirements.

The role requires strong AutoCAD and Revit/BIM skills, clouded by a thorough knowledge of local codes, safety standards and Singapore Standards.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years hands-on ELV/MEP design experience in buildings.
• Experience with design drawings, submittals, and system integration.
• ASEAN regional or large facilities experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• System Design & Engineering: Lead design for ELV systems including BMS/IBMS, CCTV, Access Control, Structured Cabling, PA, and Smart Building IoT.
• Drawing & Technical Coordination: Produce and review shop drawings, BIM/CAD models, and coordinate with architecture/MEP services.
• Standards & Statutory Compliance: Ensure designs comply with Singapore codes and standards (SS CP 5, SS 555, Fire Code).
• Standardization & Asset Creation: Develop standardized templates and engineering guidelines.
• Technical Support & General Duties: Advise on tendering, submittals, and commissioning activities.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical & ELV System Design Specialist to support the design, technical coordination, and engineering delivery of Extra-Low Voltage (ELV), smart building, and Mechanical & Electrical (MEP) projects in Singapore and across the Southeast Asia (ASEAN) region. In this role, you will take ownership of ELV system schematics, drawing development, buildability reviews, and statutory compliance, ensuring seamless project execution while establishing standardized design assets to enhance regional engineering capabilities.

Roles & Responsibilities (Core Duties)

1. System Design & Engineering: Lead the engineering design, system architecture, single-line diagrams, and schematic preparation for ELV systems (including BMS/IBMS, CCTV, Access Control, Structured Cabling, Public Address, and Smart Building IoT) and associated electrical interfaces.

2. Drawing & Technical Coordination: Produce and review detailed shop drawings, as-built drawings, and BIM/CAD models; conduct technical coordination and clash detection with architectural, structural, and MEP services to ensure site constructability.

3. Standards & Statutory Compliance: Ensure all system designs and technical specifications strictly comply with Singapore regulatory requirements, BCA guidelines, relevant Singapore Standards (e.g., SS CP 5, SS 555, Fire Code), and applicable regional engineering codes.

4. Standardization & Asset Creation: Develop and curate standardized design templates, equipment selection criteria, and engineering calculation guidelines to strengthen regional MEP and ELV delivery competencies.

5. Technical Support & General Duties: Provide technical advisory during project tendering, material submittals, testing and commissioning (T&C), and support additional engineering initiatives assigned by management.

Requirements

1. Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Building Services Engineering, Telecommunications, or related engineering disciplines.

1. Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in ELV, electrical, or MEP system design within building construction, data centers, or smart facility projects.

• Proven track record in handling design drawings, technical submittals, and system integration.

• Experience in regional ASEAN projects or large-scale commercial/mission-critical facilities is an advantage.

• Strong technical knowledge of ELV systems, smart building technologies, and MEP engineering interfaces.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM software, and engineering calculation tools.

• In-depth understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards.

• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and technical documentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple project design deliverables under tight deadlines.

1. Language & Communication (TAFEP Compliant)

• English: Good written and verbal communication skills are required to prepare engineering specifications, compliance reports, and communicate effectively with project stakeholders and authorities.

• Second Language: Proficiency in Chinese is strongly preferred to facilitate technical coordination and design review with Mandarin-speaking regional engineering teams, equipment vendors, and headquarters stakeholders.
